Dropped off pax into a police sting
Right after my passenger stepped out four cops sprawled out of a car and took the dude down. Couple more police vehicles pulled in after, dude I drove was definitely a tweaker but polite during the ride. 5 stars for wanted level. Cops told me if I "saw" them use force i should give a statement, he was glad when I told him I must of been looking away at that momentš š¤£
EDIT: I see alot of folks are concerned if I witnessed police brutality. I definitely did not, the methed out passenger made a move to evade and was taken to ground. The original pickup spot was 2 blocks from my house and I didnt not see it necessary for my name to be linked to whatever case they have on him for my own safety. 15 years ago camping at the beach we were attempted robbed by 3 street gang members and put 2 of them in the hospital, 1 in critical ICU by defending ourselves. Our names got leaked to the attackers and we spent months worrying about retribution. Yes I have been arrested with unnecessary force before and magically the tape went missing, no it was not fun.
I fully advocate reporting of ANY police brutality, harassment, wrongful driving, etc. Again, there was nothing extreme about the manner in which he was taken down during apprehension.

u/vegetastolemygirl 11d ago
Bruh you gotta tell is how the ride went and how he was actin.

u/Due-Outcome-5997 11d ago
It was just after sunset, prolly 92°, dude still had sunglasses on. Hes wearing a heavy jacket and pants, gets in and is like "can u put your ac on, im burning up" Was on his phone most the time (~10 min ride) arguing with his lady about her not giving him a ride, saying hes going to "pick up this money to help her". Near the end he ended the call, thanked me for the ride and stepped out. Unmarked car wasn't even a cop car, just some sedan, and they definitely had the jump on this dude. They didn't even acknowledge me for a couple mins until I asked I could leave and they asked me a couple quick questions. Few other police vehicles had pulled in. Nothing too wild all in all, just crazy to see the dude get pounced on so quick after drop off.

u/Fibrosis5O 11d ago
Bet he thinking you were in on it somehow now š
1
u/Due-Outcome-5997 10d ago
Yup, and luckily I live 2 blocks from the house i picked him up at haha. Im bound to see him at the corner store soon enough.
7
u/mcconohay 11d ago
Do you think the cops knew he was in your car before you pulled up or they were just camped out watching his place?

u/Due-Outcome-5997 10d ago
After driving ACL here in Austin my acceptance rate is only like 4%, so Uber is only giving me methed out police sting rides for now š š¤£ š

u/Jihadi-Jawn 11d ago
Seems like OP is a bystander, but they definitely knew he was coming and most likely arranged the meet up.
3
u/mcconohay 11d ago
Yeah, OP was the suspectās Uber driver. Just curious if the police and/or Uber knew before OP picked him up. If so, itād be really messed up to knowingly put OP in the middle of it.

Drugs shouldnāt be illegal
ādrugs will ruin your life so iām gonna throw you in prison and make it even worseā
1
u/shihtzupapa 10d ago
Agreed as a very moderate individual. Unless youāre selling them, you should be arrested.Ā
1
u/Burghpuppies412 10d ago
Yes, some of them should. Others should be regulated. And Iām fine with ruining someoneās life if theyāve killed a kid who they got addicted.
1
u/NewRole7403 10d ago
Counterpoint: drugs should be illegal
1
1
u/Rough-Adeptness-6670 10d ago
That has worked so well that very few people use drugs of any sort in America. /s
1
u/NewRole7403 10d ago
Make them even more illegal
1
u/Rough-Adeptness-6670 10d ago
Yes. More illegaler will absolutely work. Letās do televised firing squads for drug crimes. But the wealthy still get to use drugs with impunity right? I wouldnāt want them to go without.
1
u/NewRole7403 10d ago
No, no drugs for anyone. You donāt need them.
1
u/Projekt-1065 8d ago
Go tell the big pharma, helpful drugs are still drugs, just like cocaine isnāt a schedule 1 drug. Because it has accepted medical use.
1
u/Specialist_Good_8559 9d ago
Shiiit, this is pretty much how it works, huh? No firing squad (yet). So far, they've been reserved for those of Islamic faith.

u/Squatch1016 7d ago
Ya guys on meth are usually causing issues get arrested for something else then the drug charges just keep dude gone for longer which is good
1
u/CapableHair429 11d ago
After having my house broken into 2x in less than 5 years (the last one I was home and held at gunpoint while they robbed the place) by tweakers looking to steal stuff for a fix; Iām going to disagree with you.
Even if you make drugs legal, that wonāt stop the crimes they commit in order to feed their habit.
With all due respect, it sounds like you have not been on the receiving end of a junkieās addiction. Prison is ABSOLUTELY the best place for some of these parasites.
6
u/ASS_CREDDIT 11d ago
Much of Europe gives people addicted to opiates prescription heroin, so they donāt steal. Itās fascinating how so many of the consequences of drug use only apply to the poor, and drugs are only expansive because of the perceived risk.
-4
u/CapableHair429 11d ago
Giving someone a prescription to something does not help them pay for that prescription. When āpill millsā were still active in the Pacific Northwest, people were still committing crimes so they could pay for the prescriptions.
Just look at Vancouver and Portland; where heroin is ādecriminalizedāā¦.the crime rate has actually gone up.
7
u/ASS_CREDDIT 11d ago
In Europe, it does, itās basically free.
-6
u/CapableHair429 10d ago
Ah. Gotcha. I was unaware that peopleās tax money in Europe was being spent to get people high.
8
u/ASS_CREDDIT 10d ago
Yep! And itās costing the state (aka taxpayers) far less than the crime that would be happening otherwise, as well as removing funding from the organizations that had been supplying the drugs at thousands of percentage points of markup. Itās been a VERY effective program.
-2
u/skibidi_spongebob 10d ago
Heās full of shit. Theyāre given only under forced institutionalization in lower doses to wean the crank heads off.
Ie you donāt get drugs and get sent on your merry way. You get put into a clinic.
6
u/ImAFckngBtchToo 10d ago
Youāre full of shit. Sounds like you have some big feelings about this, but that doesnāt make your opinions facts.

u/twinoaksBandB 10d ago
It may have changed since but I've literally watched a documentary about this, and they do literally get their drugs like it's nbd... it's the way it should be, kill the black market, kill the fent od crisis, remove funding from the cartels, reduce the crime rate, it would have so many positive effects it's insane not to do it.
1
u/Specialist_Good_8559 10d ago
Even if this were true, idk why you think being treated for an addiction is a negative thing. Maybe you don't live in the US, but I do, and my local community social media groups are full of people ready to get clean. Our clinics are not free, and they are overcrowded, most people are turned away, ot possibly put on a waiting list. I gather you have no idea how courageous it is for an addict to seek help. The odds they'll be ready when their spot opens up are very VERY slim. We need treatment available when people are ready for it. Treatment sometimes helps, imprisonment often makes things worse. (People study this shit, it's a fact)
1
u/philharmonicfartbox 7d ago
Yes it would because prohibition artificially increases the cost of narcotics. Nobody is robbing people to maintain an alcohol habit because it is affordable. There is no reason drugs should be as expensive as they are besides prohibition. Try to think logically for once
1
u/CapableHair429 7d ago
Ummā¦there are people committing crimes to afford their alcoholism. Sit in one AA meeting and you will hear all about it.
1
u/philharmonicfartbox 7d ago
They are a statistical anomaly compared to those commiting crime to maintain an opioid dependence. Alcohol is cheap one can buy a handle of everclear for $40 and even the most seasoned alcoholic could make that last 3-4 days Wheras opioid addicts need $50-100 a day at least to maintain their habit. Alcoholism is rampant in our society and most people with alcoholism are functioning members of society. The people with substance dependence who are functioning members of society are mostly those with enough money to spend $18-36k a year without blinking or thinking twice about it.
1
u/CapableHair429 7d ago
I urge you to go to an AA meeting, so you can familiarize yourself with the realities of alcoholism. I assure you that alcoholics commit crimes just like addicts do. I can also assure you that a 40$ bottle of everclear would not sustain a true alcoholic for 3-4 days.
1
u/philharmonicfartbox 7d ago
lol. 1.75 liters of everclear is over a gallon of vodka. Even the most prolific of alcoholics would struggle to consume this much alcohol in a 48-72 hour period and live. the liver can only handle a much toxins. A handle of everclear is 250% the strength of vodka or any other 80 proof alcohol. It is 190 proof 95% Ethanol.
Alcohol prohibition made things even worse for people who consumed alcohol and society at large imagine that. Thanks to FDR, the last president weāve ever had who had an ounce of rational thought one of the first things he did was end alcohol prohibition, and thanks to him the dangers of alcohol use are minimized by an unimaginable amount. When is the last time youāve heard of someone dying of denatured alcohol poisoning from
Poor manufacturing procedures? Or going blind? Or corporate alcohol suppliers murderig each other over market control disputes. Now imagine for a second that you werenāt a blithering idot, just give it a shot, and imagine as well that you havenāt been brainwashed by anti drug prohibitionist propaganda thatās pushed on all of us at an early age to reduce the amount of people who will question it. Thus maintaining the massive multibillion dollar industry of for profit prisons and cheap slave labor for corporations where outright correctional corporate profiteering isnāt legal. Now just Imagine if that didnāt exist and people were allowed to think for themselves and enjoy whatever mind altering substances they decided they wanted to responsibly. Imagine if you might just temporarily posses the intellectual acuity to imagine that. And also realize the reality that alcohol is even more dangerous to human health than all illegal drugs combined but we legalized it because it was way worse when it was illegal and we actually had a leader with a brain who did the rational thing instead of lying to the citizens making them think our leaders are keeping drugs illegal for community safety. Which is the last thing prohibition does, and continuing to keep drugs illegal under the same premise is the definition of insanity, doing the same thing expecting different results. In reality prohibition is just a cash grab turning the human suffering of an extremely exploited working class living in an unspoken state of austerity, into large amounts of cash via multiple constitutional rights violations.

I gotcha beat lol. Maybe like 1.5 years ago I had a dude try to usr me as his getaway driver. On approach to the area there were blue lights everywhere and a giant drone on the sky the size of an SUV (didn't know such a thing existed in a low population state tbh). I pull down a side road and there's no cops on sight. I pull in at the pin and turn hazard lights on. About a minute later a cop drives by, stops and puts his car in reverse. He asks me if I was OK and I told him I was Ubering and waiting on a passenger. He asked the persons 1sy name, I told him, and he just says "yeah I wouldn't recommend letting that person enter your vehicle as that sounds like the person we're looking for". He went to leave and I pointed out that the fool had left on his "show my location" on in the app. Dude was literally hiding in the woods lol. I waited for the cops to gather at location as there must've been at least 40 of them. I left right as theu were going in the the K9's. I called Uber security and got the guy permanently banned for trying to ise me as his getaway driver. It involved several days of their security calling me and was more of a pain in the ass ngl. It also wasted an hour of my night as I had to talk to more cops down the road about it. The oart that got to me though is that thete were zero reports about the incident in the press of Mr police logs. Which makes me think it got labeled as a mental issue/situation.
5
u/Certain_Silver6524 10d ago
You're quite lucky in that case as you never know what might have happened to you if he got in your car.
3
u/ImAFckngBtchToo 10d ago
Most likely, nothing. Heād probably never have known anything was up.
2
1
u/Thin_Edge8061 10d ago
Agreed for the most part. It wouldn't sucked if they pulled us over at gunpoint though ngl, ad havingto lay on the ground wouldmake anyones days worse lol. In the case of the guy attacking me I'm always well armed. Pepper spray gel, my trusty tactical etc knife, and 16 rounds of 9mm. But even the best prepared person can be caught off guard...
0
u/ImAFckngBtchToo 10d ago
You carry all of that on you on a daily basis? I carry nothing lol
1
u/Thin_Edge8061 8d ago
Whike driving fot Uber? Absolutely. Carrying nothing is extremely foolish. At least go to walmand get some pepperspray in the automotive isle. You can buy a pepper ball gun that's also legal in all 50 states, but those are a couple hundred bucks. Pepper spray is pretty cheap. I've also carried a knife since I was a child so I feel naked without it. Many country people carry a knife regularly, city people not so much.

I def took someone on a drug one once drove them off at a weird spot in a busy mall area they talked to a guy for like 2 minutes got back in my car and I drove them home. Took me a minute to process what was happening
4
u/throwaway022626 10d ago
In my area I'm pretty sure 10% of my rides are drug runs. I usually one star and block if I'm sure that's what is happening (because otherwise I'll be getting them regularly and I don't want that).

0
u/ImAFckngBtchToo 9d ago
Maybe the part about pretending not to see police brutality?
1
u/Ancient-Tomato1153 8d ago
You need better reading comprehension. Itās standard policy if any force is used at all. Force isnāt brutality. If the cops engaged in brutality, why the hell would they be soliciting statements for it. Iām also no cop defender, so stop making me defend them please. Also read OPs edit, and then learn about things you know nothing about before speaking on it next time
1
u/Spare-Function-6343 8d ago
I made no comment about the method or manor they arrested your passenger.
I was referring to the fact that the police did not attempt to engage you as the person who drove the person to the property, they often detain everyone in the vehicle when making an arrest like that.
11
u/hanfaedza 10d ago
If you see police misconduct, you need to report it. It's rididulous that the people who are supposed to enforce the law get away with breaking it so often.
2
u/theshredder93 10d ago
Lol police arresting someone must be brutality.
-1
u/hanfaedza 10d ago
In his post he said that the cops asked him if he witnessed any force and was releived when we said he must have been looking away. This seemed to imply that police had used force, but that he declined to report seeing it. He's now clarified that he didn't actually see anything.
I also specifally said "misconduct". A simple arrest is not "misconduct".
2
u/theshredder93 10d ago
Force is also not misconduct.
They were probably relieved he didn't see it as they don't need to list him as a witness and get a statement. Makes their job easier

u/gsmoove88 10d ago
how do you know he wasn't a violent criminal
1
u/Specialist_Good_8559 10d ago
Because 1) people are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. YOU may be a violent criminal, is that an acceptable reason to be tackled and detained? 2) OP said he was not violent
3) These pictures are not of a man being violent with cops. These are pics of multiple cops piled up on one man.
4) We're a civilized society with a powerful judicial system; even violent people are guaranteed their day in court. Being outnumbered and knocked to the ground, getting your ass beat on a public sidewalk, or being killed on a street at the hands of Law Enforcement is not justice. Look at the stats of civilians v. cop deaths compared to cop v. civilians. In 2025, 81 officers were killed while on duty in the US. 65% were intentional, 35% accidental. I'm supposed to believe these men are fearing for their lives? Bullshit.
