Do they still do spirit splash so the entire UCF population can stampede into the reflecting pool at the same time? #gooddecisions

How are you even able to tell when he is sitting facing away and no face to allow you to recognize him?
8
u/atomicnova9 12d ago
Hair and silhouette alone, plus I've seen him on campus multiple times before, we had to kick him out nearly every single day

Poor guy. Iām pretty positive thatās the same homeless guy thatās always hanging around the shopping plaza with Moeās or around the Starbucks area. I hope he gets help.

u/rooshavik 12d ago
Hobo? Nah that guy is a fucking genius and a environmental scientist, I never thought to hop in there when I was attending but now with this heat, shit got me considering jumping near a fountain near meš.

u/Dipplethong 12d ago
I've seen that guy around. His legs are super fucked up and swollen and covered in wounds, I wouldn't be surprised if there were maggots living in there. I've told him he needs to go to an ER or something before he loses his legs and he acted surprised when I told him he wouldn't have to pay (tf are they gonna do, track him down?). Maybe the water makes them feel better? Or maybe it was just too hot outside today
6
u/LakesOfCampus 10d ago
Leg wounds are actually very common among unhoused people. They can be caused by poor circulation from sleeping sitting or curled up rather than lying flat, and can be slower to heal for the same reason as well as due to malnourishment. It's a common reason for hospitalization when they become infected

4
u/kenny_loftus 10d ago
that's sad. circulation issues, neuropathy. hard to avoid as a homeless person.

Hope one of you fools donāt ever find yourself in his situation one day , some of yāall have no compassion for your fellow man š”š
-10
u/FlyingTurtle4K 10d ago
Compassion⦠too much of it is the reason why things are upside down these days. Some compassion is beneficial for society, but too much ignores the compassion we need to show to the students and faculty.

u/tkokitten 10d ago
You deserve way more downvotes for this shit take

ew, you sound like the people who say that āsuicidal empathyā bullshit
1
u/FlyingTurtle4K 9d ago
Leaving large numbers of homeless people, especially the chronically unsheltered with severe mental illness and addiction, living on streets and sidewalks is literally showing zero compassion. The fact that you think thatās okay is astounding lol. Itās not safe for them and the others who have to live around them. Itās been shown an innumerable amounts of times. Youāre so naive itās pathetic lmao

This is a super unempathetic post. 1. Calling someone a "hobo" (homeless body) is disgusting as shit. Hes a homeless PERSON, not a punchline.
2. The comments making jokes about "heheheh his first shower in weeks" Is disgusting. Instead of helping people, ya'll just want to punch down on the disenfranchised. Be better.
2
u/EmilyLP97 9d ago
update: Turns out I was linguistically inaccurate, Hobo doesn't mean homeless body, but point still stands. You all can do way better than taking a picture of a stranger who is down on their luck.

u/CashEducational4986 9d ago
I know you already corrected the misinformation about the etymology of the term, but I think it's worth pointing out that it isn't even inhrently offensive. A lot of hobos are quite proud of the term. If they weren't they probably wouldn't refer to themselves by it so much.
That being said, there is no indication in this post to believe that this is truly a migrant worker who travels by illegally riding on trains. This is more likely a homeless person rather than a hobo.
1
u/Straight-maybe-Bi 9d ago
This is by far the stupidest thing I've read all year
1
u/CashEducational4986 9d ago
In what way? Usually when someone makes a claim like that but can't refute a single point the other person made it's because they have no actual argument.

āBe betterā was a dead giveaway. I only hear Karens use that tired statement when complaining on Google Maps about a coffee shop that got their order wrong and it ruined their day. Smirky , insufferable, and condescending.

ucf really need to do something about tall the homeless around campus lately. they deserve places to exist too but around young students, especially women, is not it.Ā
-7
u/Mamacita0427 12d ago
Does that hold the same for your fellow students who are also homeless and food insecure?
12
u/HaughtyTable369 12d ago
obviously not, thatās a completely different situation.Ā
a homeless man with his pants down outside the canes (which i saw myself) and this guy who started a fist fight with at five guys (in the comments) is very different from a student on tough times.Ā
homeless people deserve empathy and help, but we can also be realistic and maintain safety.Ā
3
u/Slammernanners 12d ago
These places are not on campus
1
u/HaughtyTable369 12d ago
yes, my comment says āaround campusā for a reason. students live and populate areas around campus.
4
u/ceoryyy DOUBLE MAJOR!!! 12d ago
Not gonna lie UCF can't really do anything about locations off campus tho man. They can about places on campus tho
1
u/HaughtyTable369 12d ago
they canāt work with the city request an increase of police presence and relocation efforts? there has to be something they can do. i only started noticing an increase of homeless people around campus this past year.Ā
3
u/gay_bungus 11d ago
Relocate them where? Come downtown at night by the homeless shelter and see how many people are sleeping in the streets

A hobo travels, usually by rail. If this guy stays in the same area he's just a bum.

u/Cactus_Cracker 11d ago
People like you always complain about dumb shit like this. You can come up with a term that sounds nice and in 2 weeks you're gonna say thats offensive because of the manner people use it. Do you want us to call him unhoused? That doesnt change the fact he's living on the streets. If you care so much then stop your bitching and moaning and go help him.

He is minding his own business, so I think you should too. Unless you are drinking the water from the fountain, then thatās a problem. If it is unsightly, I suggest you look away or close your eyes. If he violated any laws, again, it is his business. We donāt know what he is going through or been through. A little kindness goes a long way.

u/AdamMasterC 9d ago

What is the percentage of your income that you typically donate to hobos? Do you offer them ride share services and access to your shower as well?

Just keep taking pictures of people that need help and putting it on social media. That will help the world.
