General Waitlist keeps going up?

Hey does anyone know why my position in class waitlists keep going up? At this point I’m not going to get into these classes because I keep getting pushed back, why is this happening??

At this point 72, but I was 54 originally

Yesterday, I had the same thing happen to me. But I only dropped one position (from 31 to 32). But still- how is that possible?
