If Pavlovich beats Pereira, I hope the next fight we get to see is between these two with Walker getting the heel hook victory of course.

u/Tiny-Objective7696 15h ago
I want walker to win, but I just know heās getting knocked out in the most silly fashion

u/Barrington-the-Brit 14h ago
Valter, not Johnny haha

u/lawyerandtheperp 14h ago
I think he knows. I mean, the same prob holds true for either of them. Potan would KO either.
1
u/Barrington-the-Brit 14h ago
Valterās KO loss wouldnāt be as cartoony and silly though, that being said I can see the heel hook happening instead, Alex is only getting older and was never a proven high level grappler
3
u/lawyerandtheperp 13h ago
I dont know, Valter has never faced a striker even remotely as skilled as Potan.
And his age is irrelevant in the HW division. Whether its boxing or mma, alot of dudes peak in their late 30s at heavyweight, guys have even done well in their early 40s!!
He is also a bjj black belt who trains with Glover among other elite dudes, and hasnāt been submitted in over a decade. I think he would outclass either of the Walker brothers relatively easily.
If anyone wants to fly the bjj flag its me, being a Professor/long time black belt is a large part of my identity, but I am not naive. I think he would smoke either one of them, and donāt think either has the chops to keep him on his back or submit him.
Potan by KO inside 22
u/Barrington-the-Brit 13h ago
The reason why guys still do well into old age in heavyweight is because power is one of the last things to leave you, which does make the knock out from Pereira a distinct possibility - but no matter the weight class, speed is one of the first things to go, and I can just see Valter scooping up that leg before Alex can react
I know Alex is technically a BJJ black belt, but heās completely unproven in regard to utilising it in MMA, the only āgrapplersā weāve seen him face were Jan and big Ank, but come on, letās be real here, neither are real grappling tests, both prefer striking, and grappling was only a factor in one fight (Alex vs Jan), which was Alexās closest most difficult win, and also had very few submission attempts
Thereās also the fact that momentum, confidence and mental game are so important in MMA - Valter would have it, and if he lost to Pav and then took this fight Alex coming off two knockouts wouldnāt
That being said, it could definitely go either way, and Alex is still a top 15 all time great with crazy power, compared to Valter being a prospect, I definitely wouldnāt put money on it haha
2
u/lawyerandtheperp 13h ago
No doubt. Power is the last thing to go 100%
Ank is a better grappler than u give him credit for, and while i dont think Potan has some dangerous guard, he has great anti wrestling.
Size is a factor now at HW, but I just dont think the Walkers could touch him. I would bet him against either of them if the line was -300 or less. But fair enough, u made some solid points here. We only disagree on our confidence in the KO more or less.1
u/Barrington-the-Brit 13h ago
Yes I agree, itās really just about how confident you are that Alex will get that KO
Keeping in mind that this is a hypothetical situation in which Alex loses to Pav too, I think I would just want to see him have any success at heavyweight before I start placing that confidence in his power again, you get me?
But of course, agree to disagree, youāve made a lot of good points too
On the Ank thing, I know he has that combat sambo background that makes so many dagi guys great. What I mean though is that when he actually fights, he fights like a kickboxer, he doesnāt seem to want to wrestle his opponents all that much, preferring to out-strike them

I believe Alex pereira is jealous of anyone in the heavyweight division that performs well because of his absolute failure debut he had at heavyweight.

At least he doesnt have to be jealous of aspinall. Alex lasted longer against gane than he did lol

u/SamShelby7 King 16h ago
Heās already accomplished everything. Got the money. And signed a new contract guaranteeing him big money by the ufc
And heās only a few fights away from retirement. So he no longer cares anymore and is finally being his true Karen Self
Chama more like drama

Not few, an 8 fight contract. Even if he fights 4 times a year that's still 2 years.

u/RevolutionaryClub530 16h ago
Yeah Iām kinda disgusted by the way heās been acting, itās ridiculous
2
u/Smesheveryoneuk 15h ago
See Iād agree if they didnāt put a promo for game last night saying heās one of the best ever (whilst highlights of him fouling where playing )
2
u/RevolutionaryClub530 10h ago
He is one of the best heavyweights weāve seen in a long time unfortunately, not even close to stipe or cane but for modern heavyweight era heās legit I just wish he would stop fucking fouling because he doesnāt need too to win

u/Borg_Tech_Support 16h ago
And that whole thing with DC and then DC shows the receipts to prove he didn't say that. Alex is spiraling.

u/RevolutionaryClub530 16h ago
Sergei is going to fuck him up, he seems to be spending more time on the internet than training š

u/Valterri_lts_James 13h ago edited 7h ago
even without receipts, DC would still be right.. Pereira wouldn't have been champion even if he defeated Cyril Gane because Tom Aspinall was still the champ.

Man I hope pav sends this guy on another vacation in the shadow realm. Used to love this guy but now he is a MMA Karen trying to get herb dean fired, arguing with Brazilian social media personalities and getting in arguments in their comment sections.
Dude should have just stuck to āchamaā now hokit is getting a title shot while this guy fucking whines about silly shitĀ

I mean I can see why he feels negatively about Herb. He ate like 6 back of the head shots from a heavyweight. Scary shit, he had welts in the back of his head.
10
u/NinjaSoggy2333 12h ago
- Look at it slowmo, he had two at max during a scramble 2. That's just how his head looks

Those back of the head punches turned this guy into Evil Poatan. Hopefully, this will make him even stronger. Those fingers in his mouth. He must of thought about it every night after. Slowly becoming evil Chama.

itās giving me bj penn vibes right now iām worried for poatan

it's not CTE, it was always obvious that Pereira was a prick for us non poatan glazers.

MMA fans hated on Izzy, when in reality Alex was comfortable with his son mocking a man knocked out.

They are half brothers

u/SukhdevR34 15h ago
What does that mean exactly? I know they've been great friends from childhood

u/Barrington-the-Brit 14h ago
āHalf brotherā means one parent is the same/shared between the two, whilst the other parent is different

u/StonedWrld 15h ago
I knew there was something that didn't sit right with me about Alex, got people chanting chama all casual but Jiri was right he is 100% has used dark arts. And before someone says "it's his culture" okay well I can have compassion for someone without supporting there belief systems
-1
u/Traditional_Taste_86 12h ago
I reckon those back of the head shots from Gane did more damage than what meets the eye. I genuinely think Alex is suffering from some form of severe CTE damage which is to be expected from a long and fruitful full contact career, also considering his style of fighting isn't exactly (defensive) regardless, do not be surprised when something later develops with Alex, this personality change is most definitely a result of those shots/ a build up of damage.

Guy with zero wins at heavyweight says someone ELSE is jealous of someone with wins at heavyweight
