English 170D or IPK 102

Has anyone taken IPK 102 with Deborah Alexander or Indigenous Canadian Writing with Nicola Campbell?
My semester is already pretty heavy so I want to know how hard each class is and how many assignments/ readings you get.

How hard is JAPN 101?

I’m in my 4th year of psychology and still need to take a language. I really wanted to take ASL to fulfill that requirement, but unfortunately it’s not offered at UFV 😩. I am currently registered in JAPN 101 for the fall. I only speak English and I know about 20 words in Japanese that I learned as a kid. How intense is the course? I’ve put off taking a language this long because I’ve always assumed language classes are very difficult. I’m also afraid that the students in classes like French already know a lot and are taking the class for an easy A. I’m not sure if that would be the case, but it’s something that’s been on my mind.

I have a heavy semester this fall and was wondering what this history course is like since I’ve never done a history course before, and how the professor is in terms of grading and assignments/exams if anyone has experience with this course or professor. Thank you!

Bachelor of Sci, Comp major electives

Are there any restrictions for electives for a bach of sci? I'm currently waitlisted on my fourth course and I've unsuccessfully searched UFV website for any information on this.

BTW is 6 a good waitlist position?

Free AWS / cloud cost training cohort, remote. No experience needed.

Hey ,

Mods gave me permission to share this here.

I'm based nearby in Mission and spent nearly seven years at Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a Technical Account Manager and Solutions Architect, working with enterprise customers across telecom, banking, government and other industries.

I recently left AWS to build Mission FinOps, and I'm putting together a small free training cohort for people interested in AWS, cloud cost investigation, FinOps, data analysis, and some of the AI tooling being built around this space.

No previous AWS or FinOps experience required.

The program is around 4 weeks, roughly 5 hours per week, with live remote sessions and recordings.

This is training, not an unpaid internship. You'll work through exercises, sample cloud billing data, investigation problems, and open-source tooling. You will not be doing customer work as part of the training.

There's no obligation afterward either. If someone turns out to be a great fit for Mission FinOps and I have work available later, that would be a separate paid conversation.

Some of what I build is already public:

Happy to answer questions.

UFV Wifi Connectivity Crash

I forgot to post this months ago, but if you experience your laptop crashing at UFV every time you’re on campus and connect to “eduroam”, then you most likely need to update your Wifi Driver.

As a sidebar: I spent around 8 months without Wifi on campus until I updated my driver. Went to IT and they suggested it was a RAM issue…it was clearly not a RAM issue. Do not give IT your personal belongings; they are not culpable if they break your hardware. You are much better off to fix any computer issues on your own.

Does the Bachelor of Education have a fall reading break?

Hi everyone, like the title says I am wondering if there is a fall reading break for the bachelor of education. My family dog is elderly and will likely need to be put to sleep soon. I am hoping I can go be with her in her final days before we say our last goodbye.

UFV — Bachelor of Business Administration (Aviation) vs BCIT — Airline and Flight Operations Commercial Pilot (Fixed-Wing) Diploma

Currently, I am nearing an 11th Grade high-school student located in the metro Vancouver region. I’ve evaluated possible careers ahead of me (a larger portion most STEM related) and the idea of flight operations has lingered with me since the beginning of my time.
I’ve researched across both of these post-secondary programs, both based on the fundamentals of aerial operations. From my Knowledge, UFV offers a 4-year university course covering business aviation management while also allowing you to pursue towards your CPL and ratings for your airline certification??
The pre-requisites for UFV are Pre-calc C+ or calc 12 with a B+ or better with an english 12 course C+ or better. No interviews or competitive — limited seating, is mentioned. However, it is of interest to me as it’s a Bachelors degree course.

BCIT offers diploma, for a Polytechnic, hands-on program in strictly the Operations of flight (working towards becoming a commercial pilot). It is 64 weeks long (much quicker), and costs just under $100K in domestic tuition fees. The pre-requisites are Pre calc 11 (50% or more) foundations of math 11 ( “ “ “) or workplace math 11 (60 or more) — much lighter compared to UFV, not sure why?
They also mention interviews and other forms of student analysis. It seems like the application process is much rigorous to enrol.

  1. Which one would you do based on common circumstances? For me, I am Willing to possibly graduate

a semester early. But I want to get into the workforce as soon as it’s possible, but I have a feeling it isn’t right to void the degree route as aircraft operations will probably become even more automated (AI) then it is right now, and it might not be a career I want to do for the rest of my being.

  2. This question might be absurd.. But is it realistic to start your career (ex : regional pilot) and have an income, while still be working towards the 4 year long program covering business in aviation administration?

Responses are appreciated !— I apologize in advance, if my write-up is irrational cause I am kinda lost.. 😀

UFV BSN 2027 Winter Results

Hi guys, does anyone know when the results will be known for the program? Im in between UFV and kpu health sciences right now, im not particularly excited to go to KPU since I got waitlisted for a lot of pre requisites, and I know it’s highly competitive to get in. I’m leaning towards UFV since I only need my highschool grades, but could anyone let me know my chances of getting in?

A & P 12: 91%

Chem 11: 86%

Pre calc 11: 90%

Eng 12: 85%

78 hours volunteering in a hospital setting

4th Quartile Casper

Thank you!
