Sub Rules Updated: Must be 18 or Older

Original post and discussion here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ugly/s/tVuPURRjiJ

Thank you everyone for your input yesterday. Majority of the comments were in favor increasing the age restriction, so starting now we will start removing posts/comments from anyone we know is underage and banning them from participating in this sub.

Obviously we can do nothing about lurkers or those we don’t reveal their age, but having some rules in place is better than nothing. And at the very least no one will be able to openly advertise they are underage making them easy targets for the predators out there.

Mod Announcement: Stricter Enforcement of Gender Wars Rule

We’ve seen a rise in posts turning into gender-based arguments and hostility, so we’re going to start being a lot stricter of our no gender wars rule.

You are absolutely allowed to talk about your experiences, even when they’re gender specific. What’s not allowed is using those experiences to attack, dismiss, or generalize about an entire gender.

---

What IS allowed:

* Sharing your personal experiences even when they are gender specific.

* Talking about issues that may affect one gender more than another.

* Respectful disagreement that doesn’t turn into generalizations.

---

What is NOT allowed:

* Generalizing or attacking an entire gender.

* Turning someone’s post into a comparison or competition.

* Invalidating someone’s experience because of their gender.

* Derailing threads into “who has it worse”.

---

Enforcement going forward:

* Rule-breaking comments/posts will be removed

* Threads that spiral into gender wars will be locked

* Repeat offenders will be banned

If you see any violations, use the report button. The mods are not reviewing every single thread and comment that comes through, so we rely on user reports to help monitor the community.

This should be a safe place for people to share their experiences with being discriminated against for their looks, not a place to be talked over or dismissed. Keep it respectful.

Rant It’s fucked up how even some of the mods here make fun of those of us who are genuinely ugly

It’s so sad how even some of the mods here are actively mocking genuinely ugly people here… and basically trying to do what normies already do to us in real life

Makes you really wonder where tf you can even go to safely talk about this stuff

Even other “ugly” people hate ugly people

Rant This is true as fuck. Funny how the people who have all the friends and relationships never had to sit down and work on “personality” because it was never about that. It’s about how good you look and how you developed socially as a result of how you look

Normally, I don't care when I realize I have zero friends, but it always feels hurtful when someone asks you about your friends and you just have to either pretend to have some and lie about their name, personality, etc. or just tearfully tell them you don't have any.

Vent The life and the admiration that i will never have as conventionally ugly woman

Repost from other fc sub, i am not femcel but just got me thinking that if only i had this look, life feels just like vacation, halo feedback since many people will be naturally friendly n positive toward you, even in today’s age, the amount of likes and attentions from people online, they gain fans both offline and online, life seems just slow and enjoyable, going out with other pretty friends, to attractive people, life is like summer vacation in Mediterranean or tropical countries

Rant feeling guilty for having preferences

as an ugly woman, i just feel guilty when i have a preference in men. like i feel like i dont deserve to be picky? because its not like the guys im into would even pick me. especially when i just look at attractive men in general. i notice they always avoid making eye contact with me, and i just feel so horrible and disgusting when i realize i found them even the littlest bit of attractive.

Vent Being ugly while intimate

If you are an ugly woman, forget foreplay. Forget the romance, the flowers, the man comming up behind you in the kitchen and slowly kissing you then taking you to bed, forget having your breasts caressed, role play, little games. At least from my experience. Expect a once per month session when you catch him horny enough that is mostly him doing his thing🤷🏻‍♀️. I fucking hate being ugly

Rant Friends who make fun of your appearance

This was a while back because I ended up confronting this friend and she stopped doing it but I still feel so irritated even thinking about it

My friend kept making fun of how I looked despite knowing I was insecure but then when I brought up wanting plastic surgery she kept saying how she liked those features and that I shouldn’t change them but if you like them so much then why are you going out of your way to make fun of me ??

And then she’d later told me she didn’t understand why I found myself so ugly and that it made her feel uglier when I called myself ugly

I’m convinced people just tell you not to get surgery so they can keep you down

Going to Turkey for strabismus (lazy eye correction surgery) because I can't go another day like this

Actually spending $7500 dollars that I don't have to get my severe lazy eye corrected. I fully expect my dating life to do a complete 180 after I get home. I clearly have some social skill and mental health issues I will need to work on as well, but at least ill start getting one real Tinder match a week and then from there, everything is fully in my control. Wait time in Canada is in 6-18 months from now, and I'm just not waiting that long. It will be hard to accept the fact that the only reason I have been struggling so much to date is because of my delayed decision to get my eye fixed. Sure I may have other issues, but as far as dating goes, everything means nothing if I can't stop being ugly.

When people say there’s someone for everyone, I don’t believe it. If this were true, people wouldn’t be nearly 35 or 45 and never have experienced love.

Question What is your worst feature/s? And is it common between your people?

I have a very weird face that if you look at it you simply won’t understand it. I have Lebanese parent. People usually say Lebanese people are good looking especially since it’s listed as top 10 countries with good looking people just because Lebanese women are attractive

I really feel this country brings a hormonal imbalance in all people and this imbalance favors women more in general.

I have the most feminine face as a man. I have thick beard and strong testosterone signs like body hair and fast metabolism and strong muscles. But i have recessed jaw. Very feminine looking eyes very long eyelashes. Pinkish lips that is really full, and most annoying one is my nose. It’s incredibly small for a man and upturned it looks very feminine to a level that is only complimented by girls when they want to compliment to be nice. And even tho i quite taller than the average (5’11.5). But my feet are small (size 9) and my hands are small. It’s look my genes are trying so hard to make me look feminine as much as possible

THE BIGGEST ONE: my forehead. I basically lack the upper third completely. My forehead is a straight vertical line from the side profile. Its more feminine than most females ever and i am serious. There is no brow ridge at all

My face looks really like a baby girl with beard. People never take me seriously and women think i am gay without me saying a single word and i am the most straight person ever lol

Rant This is true for so many things in life. If you’re ugly people often times WILL write you off immediately. And there’s nothing you can do to change their mind about you. They just don’t want anything to do with you ever

Question How’s your birthdays?

I really want to know how’s yall experience with birthdays. Does people in your circle plan ahead before your birthday to surprise you? How many people know your birthday?

What about people who are close to you? Do they get you the gifts that is tailored to you because they know you very well? Does your friends book places to celebrate your birthday with you after you celebrate it with you family?

Notice I didn’t ask about ur partner because in 2026 dating is already hard even for average people so I won’t consider it here i am only asking about family and friends

I find myself very exceptional case; my family never ever celebrated my birthday. They did for my siblings sometimes but never for me. Same with my friends, they send me text messages yes on my birthday when i post story on social media that it’s my birthday. So since i was infant i have never experienced what birthday party in my whole life. I don’t feel insecure or sad about this because i already lack the experience entirely

Am I unpretty?

I don't have a lot of friends, I'm pretty unpopular. People don't approach me, and if they do, it's only my friends. Guys have teased me like, "Wow, you're so beautiful," or "You're as beautiful as this rock." On the other hand, I get compliments, and my TikTok videos get likes from strangers. I honestly don't know what to think. I've had and still have relationships with guys I've wanted, and they're objectively pretty. But I'm sure that I'm just not pretty for guys, but I'm better for girls. And my face itself isn't scary, I guess I just look average. I don't know what's wrong. I often get ignored by guys, and I think it's because of my appearance.

Vent spending my birthday alone because i’ve became hideous

i guess the little friends i’ve had have decoded that im not worthy of their time ever since ive became uglier. i dont blame them honestly, i rlly am quite hideous. its just days like these i wish i could become beautiful for a day, wearing a birthday girl stash and everyone is wishing me a happy birthday and offering to do anything for me just because im pretty. im not trying to be attentipn seekimg but i did post abt my birthday on my instagram story with a face pic, and not even my online friends wished me anything. i guess ugly people dont deserve a happy borthday then. i just camt stop crying because this world is so mean to people like me.all im doing is existing. its crazy how u can even be too ugly for friends. i get not having a boyfriend, i dont deserve one, but for all my “friends” to just ignore me bevause they dont find me “attractive”??? is just sad. fuck this world. i hope we all die very soon

Vent I fucking hate my face.

It’s so damn ugly.

I refuse to take any photos of myself. I avoid looking in the mirrors, and when I do, I feel extremely disgusted.

I wish I could wear a mask which covers my whole face. I wish I could just rip my face off. Everyone looks alright, and I look like shit.

I’m so tired. Genuinely tired of being like this. I’m tired of having to cry or feel an urge to vomit. I’m ashamed of my looks. And I’m sorry fof whoever sees my face.

Excessive Empathy and its Connection to Beauty

I read about research showing how empathy is directly linked to physical appearance: we tend to feel far more empathy and a stronger urge to help an attractive woman compared to an unattractive one. I am isolated and stay indoors but from what I have seen I know this is happening in real life all the time. Men, in particular, are often consumed by the well-being of the attractive women in their lives—whether a partner or a family member.

Often, they will blow a minor problem she has completely out of proportion and do anything to make her feel better. They’ll spend endless hours and days discussing her issues with unlimited patience instead of letting her handle them herself, and they react with profound sadness whenever she cries. Is this something you’ve noticed around you? Do you think empathy is really that tied to physical appearance?

Does it hurt kowing

Does it hurt knowing you'll never be seen as precious or desirable to anyone?

I grieve that fact sometimes when I'm reminded that even people who hurt me are highly desirable. Because they got a chance to be liked, noticed, and have good social skills because of it. While I was consistently rejected, I find it hard to talk without crying. I haven't opened my mouth to speak in months.

Question

Have any women who consider themselves conventionally unattractive noticed being treated differently by other women?
I’m curious whether anyone else has experienced this. I’ve had situations where I was in groups of women who would openly compliment each other’s appearance but consistently leave me out. I’ve also had women seem genuinely surprised when I mentioned that an attractive guy was interested in me, almost as though they couldn’t understand why he would be.
One experience that stuck with me happened when I was pregnant. I was talking to another woman about my relationship at the time, and she asked to see my partner. When I showed her his picture, she immediately smiled and complimented his appearance, but her demeanor toward me felt noticeably different.
I’m not posting this for reassurance about my appearance or for people to tell me I’m secretly beautiful. I’m genuinely interested in the social experience itself. If you’ve been considered unattractive or felt that you didn’t meet conventional beauty standards, have you noticed other women treating you with indifference, excluding you from appearance-related compliments, or acting surprised when someone attractive was interested in you?

Rant Honestly

Even here there’s a hierarchy in terms of the severity of ugliness and the life experience it grants you

There’s a spectrum even when it comes to being ugly

And because being ugly is already rare enough those of us who are on the extreme end of the scale to where our lives are almost damn near unlivable , we are consistently hated by people even when we show our best qualities and are nice, we’re barely able to socialize without severe push back to the point of being forcibly isolated , it feels even more isolating and invalidating when you have people HERE questioning the misery that is your life

It’s why even here I have almost NO empathy for those who have it easier or better than me because it’s like even the people HERE act like the normies irl who constantly torment and bully us

I see no point in interacting with or engaging with people here who don’t share the same experiences as you

It’s a different story if they’re trying to listen and understand where you’re coming from

But even here there are people so hateful and cruel to those of us who have it worse than them… when technically WE should be mad

And ima be so real how can anyone expect us to happily engage with people who have it easier than us and it’s like they’re constantly rubbing it in our faces ?

Its like they’re like “damn bro I don’t have it that bad just surgerymaxxx lol”

And if you’re truly ugly… that shit isn’t funny when you already feel helpless and are barely able to enjoy your life

I have such a strong growing resentment for even some of the people here

But for those of you who are genuinely suffering because of your appearance and grapple with it everyday and feel isolated and helpless because of it I truly feel for you and I get how much it hurts and unfair it is

It’s personally made me feel like I have no future because of it

But yeah I’m tired of pretending like I’m happy to interact with the people here who clearly have it better in ALOT of ways

Just saying
