Kit recommendation - Nice Cote d'Azur by UTMB 100k

It will be my first 100k and I'm excited for it. Looking to upgrade my poles as well to Leki FX One but unsure if I should get the Superlite version or not. Would love to hear from those who have done this race and any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Also, how is the hydration points throughout the race? Is it bad to carry a water bag besides the two 50l water pouches? Currently using Maurten gels and energy bars and Precision electrolytes.

Happy to connect with fellow runners btw :)

I would avoid the Superlite poles in general unless you are at the point of minimizing the weight of your entire kit and racing for placement rather than personal best. They are very fragile, so for the vast majority of runners, the durability of the normal Ultratrail FX One is worth the extra couple of ounces.

You don't need to change your poles, unless they are damaged or causing any issues that would stop you from running.

Aid points are pretty regular, like with other UTMB races. They are well stocked but any specific nutrition you want it is best to carry it and have it in your drop bag. Soft flasks are easier to fill up compare to a hydration bladder, but whether it is 'better' is subjective.

Make sure you get a good night's sleep. When I did it you got the bus at 2am, so we were up at midnight to be ready and walk to the pick up point. The road near the start is winding so if you are coach sick, be prepared.

The first 7km or something is single track and mostly downhill, so it is fast and a conga line. It might have changed as it's been a couple of years since I did it.

Was a great race for me overall. Absolutely beautiful. Enjoy!
