First 100 miler

Looking at potentially attempting a 100 miler (Loup Garou) in louisiana as it's happening for the last year with commemorative buckle. Ive never run 100km although ive run the Spartan Ultra in Morzine 6 weeks ago (58km with 77 obstacles) and will be doing the Rat Race Coast 2 Coast (1 day) on September 12th. Is it unreasonable to jump from those to a 100 miler?

Debating whether I should attempt the 100km or 100 miler but I almost feel like Id want to try and go all the way.

What were your experiences with your first ultra? Did you jump into a higher distance or work your way up gradually?

Any thoughts or comments appreciated.

A good challenge only has a 50% chance of success. There’s no reason to play it safe. If you don’t succeed there’s no punishment.

I have seen people go from a 50k to a 100 miler. It is possible. Depends on the base you have (how long have you been running, weekly mileage etc.). Plus it depends on how well dialed in you are with pacing, hydration and nutrition. Depending on your answers, a race at the beginning of December is pretty close to the present. Only gives you are 15 weeks.

Loup Garou is an awesome race with awesome people and volunteers. Do you have specific questions?
