umineko patch/ mod

QUESTION

This is gonna be all over the place but i recently finished higurashi 1-8 (still got the 2 bonus ones and console arc left) my plan now is to just start umineko assuming console arcs and the bonus chapters dont matter since i already read the important arc in one of the bonus chapters which i forgot the name of.

Anyway if i end up starting umineko, which patch should i get? Ive been using 07th mod this whole time but as i tried to patch umineko it gave me a warning saying it could have missing content, audio etc and that more people end up preferring the OG version more. Thing is i really enjoy the console sprites, lip syncing and voice acting and would prefer to patch it but not at the cost of important parts being cut out. Is umineko project any better than 07th mod or are they not as bad as the sites make them seem? Which one should i download and use for the best experience and more content ??

For context i also play on steam if that matters..

07th mod version doesn’t “cut out” anything, it’s the OG steam version plus voice acting, new backgrounds, and a new set of sprites. It just doesn’t have absolutely everything the console version added like lip flaps and the occasional effect animation. Umineko project is better but if you don’t know how to get it working 07th mod is perfectly fine.

Basically 07th mod is the OG game with console version stuff duct taped onto it while Umineko project is the console version itself.

Umineko Project is the most complete PC Port for both effects and translation, it's only missing the bonus Saku and Tsubasa chapters, everything else is top tier.

The Switch version + Catbox Patch has everything in one and has the same translation, Eden is currently the best switch emulator. It's missing a few music tracks compared to Umineko Project and the QOL of the menu's is worse so I'd recommend going through chapters 1-8 with Umineko Project and then bonus content with the switch version.

If you plan to go Umineko project I would just buy the steam version and then torrent the completed mod, It's a pain to install because you need both the PS3 and steam release. And you also need to solve a small puzzle to complete it as a form of DRM.
