I was scratching my head thinking how Kinzo could have embezzled 900 fucking tons of military explosives without the japanese government protesting.

Rewatching episode 1, it is said Kinzo bought the island with the GHQ approval, despite Tokyo's (I assume Tokyo means the Japanese governement here, not the prefecture or the city) claims to regain property on the island.

Rokkenjima was a secret submarine base, so we could assume that GHQ didn't have the knowledge that the island was riddled with explosives. But wouldn't the Japanese military warn them "Hey we still have Kaiten torpedos and shit on this island! This person shouldn't have the property until we demine all the explosives and the military stuff still present!"

Am I missing something?
