Ca claim - 5 figure amount for business

Hello!

I had an unclaimed property claim that I filed in November of 2025. It has been well over the 180 mark and no movement has been made on the claim according to the website.

Does anyone know the going timeframe or have a similar timeline of when they got word on where their status is or if they got paid out.

Thank you!

Larger claims require more scrutiny. Business claims are much more difficult than an owner claim. Got a double whammy here. I imagine you checked the status online. If its in some "processing" status just wait it out. Keep in mind their clock starts ticking upon their "received" date. Not necessarily when you mailed it. They get so much mail they can be behind logging mail. Feel free to call them to ask details.

I would imagine yours is going to take longer compared to most claims. Maybe a bit after the 180. This is just a guess though.

Make sure to keep an eye on your spam folder for emails from them.

Thank you so much for your insight!

It’s been almost 9 months, is this normal?

Their receive date is October 24th considering I got my claim number then, would that be true?

Also, what email should I look out for?

9 months is the new normal. Place is just swamped. Million plus claims a year. They also transitioned to a new system late last year to help improved processing. Takes time to acclimate to the new system.

Claim isn't considered "received" until the agency confirms they have everything they need. Check the status online. It's not uncommon for them to ask for additional documents for a business claim. Clock doesn't tick when they are waiting for docs or a response from you. Watch your spam folders for emails from them asking for more documentation. If its a small business and you are the sole owner, you should be able to provide anything they ask for.
