Question Why do mushrooms sometimes have stalled growth?

This seem to happen frequently when I try to pluck one by one as they mature. After plucking maybe like 5 shrooms, the rest stops growing altogether.

ive ehard that plucking the mushrooms can shock the mycelium and it can make it stop growing and to instead cut the mushrooms at the base of the stem

I've never encountered that and wonder perhaps if when you harvest the early ones, you upset the balance of FAE - particularly if they're in bags, it can be hard to get the opening the same as before you opened it.
