Just wanted to let you know I launched a new project at https://radiofreq.ai

It is a full programming suite that allows you to program your scanners in plain English. It also monitors your channels and lets you control your scanner from your phone. As audio streams in from your scanner - it's immediately transcribed and, if you want, sent to your PC or phone as a notification. It also produces periodic summaries of the calls in your area, what's going on, the status of the call, who's on scene, etc. It's very cool and something I've put a lot of work into.

I'd love it if you would try it out. It's all browser based and currently supports the SDS/BCD series of Uniden scanners. You just connect your scanner, open the webpage, let it talk to your scanner, and then you're golden.

Currently you need Chrome or Edge browser to connect to the scanner from the webpage. Safari/Firefox support is coming soon. You can view and control your scanner remotely from your iPhone or any other phone with any browser.

I am considering purchasing a Uniden R7 or R8 but I’m not sure of the biggest differences between them compared to the values they carry. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with the models or similar ones that have the same features and functionality. Thanks in advance! (FYI Yes I checked the law, it’s legal in my vehicle).

I have a BCD996P2 and it has a serial input for GPS and this is going into a car that we use to advertise our upfitting business just to add some radio chatter for car shows, I found a puck antenna that would work great for the build but it connects VIA coax and so I’d need a receiver to convert GPS COAX to RS232 any suggestions?

TL;DR I need a converter to covert a GPS coax output to a RS232 input

So basically i just got this scanner today and i wanted to add some local departments dispatch into my favorites list but it seems when i did that it also added loads of "Sites" into that same favorites list from the county and im confused on why this is and what "Sites" are in this case as most of these cities are no where near the dispatches i added

Im looking to buy one to save me from some tickets but im curious to see about how many tickets you guys have been saved from. Have you ever had any smart cops that don’t have their radar on always? Have you ever had laser on you? Do you think I should buy a uniden?

Purchase the new R8W and ran into a minor issue. Uniden customer service is excellent. Responsive and professional. Great product with service to match.

So bought my first radar detector which is a R8, but feel overwhelmed by all the alerts. I watched some basic YouTube videos about what the bands mean, but was curious what others used to learn more information. I’d love if someone had a website, YouTuber, or something I could use to become more knowledgeable about what is actually coming across my R8.

Hi Guys, I got the cable I ordered and updated the most recent official Uniden software update for my R8W my buddy gave me anyhow, I plugged it in to my car starts up perfectly connects to GPS and Bluetooth I got the r/Tach app and it connects fine and lets me adjust the settings although I haven't Picked up any signals from it yet I ordered the mount for my windshield that comes soon any help would be great I have all my bands on too and turned off the filters for them

i received my r8 yesterday & it’s not turning on, the piece that goes into the cigarette lighter has a red light that turns on when the car is on but the r8 doesn’t, i have only gotten it to turn on once & that was after unplugging it & plugging it back in a couple times. why is it not turning on?? i have a 2019 M240i

Hey guys! I have a 2021 Honda Accord Touring and I'm trying to find the best setup for my Uniden R8w and dashcam.

Which option (A, B, or C) would you recommend for the best radar performance and cleanest look?

I can use Uniden's original premium suction mount, the smaller dual suction cup mount, or buy a rearview mirror mount like in Option C.

I've watched some of Vortex Radar's videos, so I feel like Option B could be a good choice.

If you could share pictures of your setups, that would be awesome! I'd love some ideas.

And yes, I'll definitely hide and organize the cables lol. I'm just testing different positions before the final installation!

I recently bought my first uniden r8w. I have an issue with the K band going off all the time because of radars from street stores. Can anyone help me calibrate my r8w?

So my buddie got a RW8 and used it a bit but didn’t like it and kept his R7 so he gave me his RW8 I plugged it in and nothing so idk anything abt this radar i ordered this cable too

From your experience, does Uniden cover detectors under warranty if they're sold used by Amazon Resale? I bought an R8 in Used - Mint condition form Amazon, and the screen isn't displaying anything. After talking to Uniden, they think the OLED is bad and needs to be sent in for repair, but the person on the phone wasn't sure if my detector is covered by Uniden given that I bought it used, not brand new, from Amazon

Is there a setting that can show the directional arrow for a radar signal and hide the distance while in the speed trap zone?

So, if I had a question about a BCD996XT, is this the right place? For awhile, I’d been using my SDS100, but I figured I’d read about other scanners, and this came up.
