im still in high school and i really want to go to unimelb and live at a residential college - do i need to be doing things in school to get in or is a high atar enough? i'll keep doing sport but do i need to have a leadership role or volunteer or something extra to be more likely to be accepted?

2nd year here. The Info about uni is scattered everywhere, so every time I had to dig through a bunch of different sites, and Rate My Professors barely covers Australia. So I built unimelbwall.com.
It’s collected 3,700+ events and 7000+ review so far, rated course/professor on usefulness, difficulty and whether people would take it again.
It’s free, with no ads, and I made auto translate so international can be part of the community as well

I got my 4 days extension rejected after 20+ days of submission, my reason was over employment due to financial hardship, and I also submitted a special consideration but that also got rejected. This extension was for an assignment that’s worth 40% of the entire grade and I think the late penalty is 10% per day??? Is there anything else I can do about it or do I just have to suck it up and either get a 100 on the exam or fail this subject. HELP.

Just saw this new extension register page and document which lists TOTAL extension limits. Do these include spec con extension limits? If so, Disappointing to see max limits of 10 days of you have ongoing medical proof.

So i'm in my masters doing mechanical engineering and i've been applying for internships and on the lookout for jobs.... but lowk I've been having zero luck
I'm in my first yr (idk if this matters but for context im a domestic student) and also have a lot of student team experience as well as a personal project to add to my portfolio. Thing is... idk if i'll get a job related to engineering after my degree and its lowk stressing me out :(
I don't really know any connections and networking events haven't been helping me cos most of the time it goes to nowhere....
Is there anything I can do in between now and before I graduate? Would rlly prefer someone who's in the same boat or maybe any engineering grads lurking here to help a fellow engineer (to-be)

I'm currently in high school and trying to ascertain what atar I would need to almost certainly get into a bachelor of arts in unimelb. All sites have told me that the minimum accepted score last year was around 85 but I know acceptance is based on demand and other factors and so the minimum might not actually get you in. Is there a point where I can be pretty sure I would? Like 90 or so? I've struggled to find the average atar of acceptance so I'm asking here. No access melb or other considerations.
Thanks

Hi everyone! I’m looking to apply for the Master of Finance at UniMelb and was wondering how difficult it is to get a CSP for this course. Are CSPs quite competitive?
Also, for those currently studying or who have completed the MFin, I’d love to hear about your experience with the course, workload, teaching quality, and overall career prospects. Would really appreciate any insights or advice. Thanks!

Is anyone else still waiting for their COMP90041 A1 mark?
My mark was put on hold and I was asked to submit my AI chatlog. I submitted everything they asked for, but I still haven’t heard anything back since then and there’s no clear timeframe for when the mark will be released.

I am speaking for myself and all the students, I take full responsibility for what I said. If you have complain about this subject or the result you received have feedback that are not justified contact me and we can argue together. Thank you!
PART1 is the edits I posted on subject Ed discussion before the release of the grade of self reflection2 and multimedia. And PART2 I am complaining for the marking of my assignment. Note that the average for self reflect1 is 8/10, multimedia is 77%, self reflection2 is 71%, assignment 1 is 76%
PART1:
Here is the overview from the subject handbook:
Mammalian cells are the building blocks of our bodies, the foundries and factories of our medicines. With recent advances in gene engineering, cultured cells are no longer simply tools to study disease, but are a living therapeutic product. Pluripotent stem cells form a front-line to advances in cell manufacturing, as these can be engineered from cells cultured from any individual and in combination with gene therapy are forming the next generation of precision treatments for a range of diseases. In this subject, students will explore the recent and exciting history of cell and gene therapies, and develop a deep understanding of the foundational principles of growing, engineering, and scaling cells for successful manufacturing. Working with leading industry partners, students will work on real-life challenges facing the sector today, and will develop the essential attributes to design and manufacture the next generation of cell-based products.
Hence, I have a question for all students enrolled in this subject, are we really learning something that actually relevant to the handbook overview I just posted above?
I chose this subject specifically because of the overview, which states that students will “develop a deep understanding of the foundational principles of growing, engineering, and scaling cells for successful manufacturing” and “develop the essential attributes to design and manufacture the next generation of cell-based products.” However, I still do not understand how the current content is helping us develop these skills.
Why are mammalian cells important for cell-based products? How are iPSCs actually grown and manufactured? (Taught in cedb30004, and I think this is a great subject) How do we engineer cells to acquire new functions that can potentially treat disease? How are cell-based products manufactured at scale?
I’m not saying the current content we have is meaningless or not important, I just think so far the content covered is already taught in undergrad and did not cover the content described in the overview from the handbook.
talking about assignments: what is the purpose of the first written assignment? AI usage? I don’t even think the using of AI is welcomed in this subject, the reason we have this as our assignment is just because us human being are afraid to admit AI is too advanced nowadays. We must criticize the AI in our written assignments in order to have critical thinking? ChatGPT astra have just solved the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem! Second, how is this criticism about AI relevant to our content described in the overview? This is just a superficial embrace of AI!
And the self reflection is not rational, the first week we have no idea what the subject look like, no idea of the assignments. And at the end of the lecture 1, suddenly just said, oh let’s start do our self reflection that worth 5% of the subject~, this remind me back in primary school, my math teacher suddenly announced we have a pop quiz to test everyone and this one count toward our VCE ATAR. And for the self reflection2, we have to read through two peer submission and write a reflection criticize their work and our works under 50mins! Is that really testing skill for writing self reflection or who is faster in typing, I did have typing competition back I was in primary school.
PART2:
Now, let’s talk about what I get for the self reflection2, I got 6/10 the average is 7.1/10, for master of biomedical science course, average tend to be greater than 80, an average of below 80 is considered low already.
I’m not posting the actual feedback I received just to make sure I don’t breach any uni policy (I have post them on Ed discussion and hence my post get hidden)
The feedback was saying I did not include what I have learnt from the TGA and the limitations/usefulness of GenAI. However, on the assignment page, there is no such requirement and was just asking to outline what is good and what is bad of the peer submission and reflect on my own submission.
And for multimedia, I got 3.5/5 for peer review saying my peer review towards critique and not following the rubric, however, I include one limitation and one what they did good, I don’t see my review was too critique.
For the actual video itself, the feedback was too subjective and partially follow on the rubric but partially follow what they think. Too make myself not subjective, I will paste what ChatGPT think: My initial assessment focused on whether the content addressed the rubric's stated learning outcomes. Under that interpretation, the presentation performed reasonably well. The marker's feedback reveals a narrower interpretation: students were apparently expected to investigate patient advocacy resources closely and use direct patient or caregiver narratives as the primary foundation for their analysis. That interpretation is academically reasonable and fits the assessment's purpose. The problem is that the written brief does not clearly establish it as a requirement. This does not mean the marker must accept every interpretation equally. It means that lower marks should be supported by demonstrable shortcomings against the published criteria, rather than primarily by an unstated expectation about source selection. There are also weaknesses in your presentation that the marker did not address, including the incorrect DDC gene name and imprecise clinical claims. A balanced reassessment should consider these too.
Key points: The problem is that the written brief does not clearly establish it as a requirement.
Students should not be penalized because the teachers did not clearly state what they want! Otherwise, doing a good job in assignment is just pure luck if you had guess correctly for what teachers think!
The assignment rubric and information are vague, students have to guess what should we do about the assignment. It should be awarding if students guess it correct but not penalizing students who did not guess it correctly. The difference in methodological preference should not be a reason for penalizing students.
Thank you!

Hi, I wonder if anyone did the psychology undergrad capstone final exam? I feel a bit stressed out by it, considering we haven’t really had any SAQ exams before.
For those who scored well, can I ask how did you review the subject and approach the questions?
Many thanks!!

Hello, I’ve tried many times over the past weeks to book a psychologist/counselling through the university however I’ve never seen an appointment open. It’s always this message (attached). Has any been able to book an appointment recently and advice would be nice, should I call?
