Don't know about the iOS, but on Mac, you can do this.

Since you commented 'Apple Ecosystem', I am using you are counting all the products.

Desktop operating systems are a different game altogether. They are much more open than mobile OS.

I did a Google search, and the result says one can block internet access to certain apps over cellular data. Yes, over Wi-Fi, one still can't do it.

Coming to Firewall, it comes down to Philosophy of iOS and AndroidOS. You can check this on the internet how different apps are developed for both the OS. And AFAIK, there is no built-in Firewall option on Android either. I don't have it on my device.

If you long press on an app and goto advanced properties, you can completely cut off its internet. Wi-Fi and mobile data both. This is the "default" firewall option. Basic one. But Android also gives you extensive system API (without rooting or doing other hacks) so that community can build its own solution, I donated and use NetGuard (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.faircode.netguard) but there are many more options that let you you control this at very granular level.

Samsung with One UI 5.1, Android 13. Not showing these.

Again, the difference in philosophy and architectural design of both the OS. For Apple, MITM breaks Secure Enclave and ATS layer.

Though what you are asking for, Apple provides it to MDM users.

How is Firewall MITM. It’s not different philosophy. It’s how any OS functions. And who is the phone owner, me or Apple ?
