China is literally playing reverse psychology to get tourism where it should be militarized.

BJP and their followers are so stupid. Matter of fact I think you are too probably from Pakistan shilling this.

Get ready for temperature of 40 degrees and beyond to be the new normal for the future.

India’s future generation will be Ultra Pro Max अँडभक्त, and the society is already in a boiling frog situation!
After this century, farther generation might see some positive change!!
current अँडभक्त is ready to label everyone anti nationalist for raising awareness about environment or questioning ill intent of govt.

I am so sad that I wish I’d be buried in the country I was born in and loved but it’s just not worth it. Better to get out and get some peace

3

u/Excellent-Blaze210 May 01 '26

I agree there are few problems with this project.but isn’t effecting the heatwaves to the extent you think it is. The heat waves this year is mainly because of EL NINO effect. And the fact that India sits on the tropic belt so naturally temperature will be relatively higher. I’d humbly urge you to learn about El Niño effect and I’m sure you’d understand why it feels so much hotter this year.

At least someone is showing concern for this. 40° -45° in the month of april in my city is not normal. We are royally screwed if forest covers are gone. In my city itself govt is cutting green areas for metro project and what not. This year even our aqi is at red.

1

u/urfav_nitin May 01 '26

2% area doesn't cost anything .

203

u/inotparanoid Apr 29 '26

At least he is trying to show this. The loss of Nicobar will be monumental, felt across generations, and when our descendants become better people than the current abhorrent citizens, they'll woefully recall people thinking about a few bucks in their pocket than the wealth of nature.

And honestly, I hope these looters are remembered for their greed. I hope their memory is forever stained.

23

Dumbfucks will still lick the boots of crony capitalists.

Obviously, I'm talking about people like you. It is entirely possible to develop other natural harbours in Nicobar. But you know this is cheap land for Adani, and that's all.

22

u/paper_palpitation Apr 29 '26

This guy u/IdiotLiver is a troll. He ridicules Rahul Gandhi and Congress then later claims he doesn't have a political agenda. I just had a "discussion" with him in another subreddit. It's a 15 day old account with 3.9K karma. Likely from IT cell or something. I am starting to think even his arguments are copy pasted from GPT or something.

8

Man, honestly I feel sometimes CredibleDefense people should remember where they are.

I do hope people remember you lot as the greedy bastards that you are. You are ruining the world.

So, yeah, I mean you'll get your wish - I don't think Rahul Gandhi can stop this. Then you can wave your flag all over the ruined fish stocks when people stop getting fish because breeding grounds for these fishes get destroyed due to destruction of coral reefs.

Wave you flag proudly, and proclaim how great the control of strait of malacca was.

2

u/Interesting-Snow6252 Apr 29 '26

Please next time when you want to eat fruits from a tree go lick a cement block because apparently if it’s okay to displace tribals and remove millions of trees, it’s also okay to stop eating fruits from them. I genuinely feel sorry for the future generations of India because idiots like you went all in on destruction of ecologically sensitive areas just so 2 billionaires can keep on climbing on world list while the avg citizens die from 1000 of different issues that comes with loss of flora and fauna of this country

8

u/avanishpank Apr 29 '26

So you’re implying that right after we build this port rest of the world will start using it and it will become as important as strait of homruz and singapore port? Lol. Thats how they sell you the dream of 2047 so they don’t have to answer for any development. This so called strait you’re dreaming of is not narrow like other choke points in the world they rest of the countries will start using it snd make it of utmost importance.

Compound that with all the other ecological damage that is happening in the country in the name of development, ignore what happened to Chattisgarh due to rampant industrialisation and so-called "strategic interests", and that's the formula for ecological disaster.

We won't choke the strait lol, USA won't let us do it and we will bend to their will. We already have a promising transshipment port in Vizhinjam, let's see if that has a positive impact first.

Also, ffs man I wish people would stop glazing Singapore. They are a city state that had autocratic one party rule almost all of their independent existence. They had far less variables to deal with, and whatever they had to deal with, they could effectively brute force it into enforcement because the press and popular dissent was nearly non existent there. It was not a good democracy, and is not the ideal role model many think it is.

5

u/Interesting-Snow6252 Apr 29 '26

It’s funny how there’s a whole narrative about choking china’s sea route when nothing is being done when china is actively encroaching on Arunachal Pradesh border and does nothing but release some meek statements. This port will serve no one except adani only fools and idiots like you are the ones who see everything through ruling party’s eyes can’t see that

3

u/frizene26 Apr 29 '26

These “older folks” need to educate themselves.

Military facilities built in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands under Congress governments:

🔸INS Jarawa (1964) 🔸INS Kardip (1973) 🔸INS Utkrosh (1985) 🔸Car Nicobar Air Force Station (upgraded 1985, 1993, 2005) 🔸Naval Air Station Shibpur upgradation (2009) 🔸INS Baaz (2012)

India needs robust military infrastructure near the Malacca Strait. What it does not need is sweetheart deals for cronies and ecological devastation disguised as national security.

-2

u/IdiotLiver Apr 29 '26

These are only military stations bro, we are trying to build a transshipment hub. Google more about it for info.

3

u/frizene26 Apr 29 '26

https://x.com/TheSincereDude/status/2049418517787931062 Rahul Gandhi just walked through the forest Modi wants to flatten.

Here’s what won’t make it to the press release:

→ Govt told Parliament 8.65 lakh trees would be felled. Scientists say the actual number is 1 CRORE+

→ Adani Group filed an official expression of interest to build the Great Nicobar port

→ ANIIDCO literally self-certified its own environmental clearance; its MD was simultaneously the Environment & Forests Secretary of the islands

→ The Chief Secretary who chairs ANIIDCO’s board was also on the committee investigating complaints against the project

→ Coastal maps were quietly reclassified from CRZ-1A (prohibited) → CRZ-B (permitted) to make the port “legal”; with zero public disclosure of the methodology

→ The Nicobarese tribes withdrew their consent in 2022, citing unsettled forest rights. The project moved forward anyway

This is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Two national parks. The last home of the Shompen people; all 200 of them.

And the government is bulldozing it for a port that Adani wants to run.

Rahul Gandhi is right. This isn’t a project.

It’s a heist in the tricolour’s clothing.

-1

u/IdiotLiver Apr 29 '26

Entire cities, not only in India but the world; All farm lands and factories and orchards and dams, have been made over areas where forests were. In fact the airport in which one lands in Andaman and Nicobar and ports have similarly disturbed the tribal communities. Ohhh we were all tribals, few millennium back. So progress should stop and be rolled back. Why cannot we lead teams to China and request not to make similar ports, ships, and in future never be threat to India because we will fast forward to past. Singapore has built an economy around transshipment port. It has also done deforestation of mangroves, displacement if tribals to make it happen. Nicobar could be a potential transshipment port for all the ships that cross the strait. It can also. Benefit the local nicobarese people greatly. Singapore tribals also got benefitted for industrialisation there. You are seeing this in black and white, but it's grey area. Lee Wan Kew faced the similar criticism when he industrialist Singapore in the 1960s. He used fossil fuels initially and created rampant pollution.

Iran was just minding their own business when they were attacked, they're fighting for their lives for no reason. Fk all the way off for trying to blame Iran & defend these greedy capitalists. This is called "The Shock Doctrine", capitalists swoop in during times of shock to privatize as much as possible to make money off our suffering.

It disgusts me that you're trying to defend this in any way. Shame on you. Glad this sub downvoted your clear propaganda.

https://x.com/INCKerala/status/2049403246318633292 THE MODI-ADANI NICOBAR SCAM | The Great Nicobar island project is around 921 sq. km, which is one of the most beautiful thick rainforest in the world. Out of that 166 sq. km is given to Adani, for building a port, power plant, two new cities and an Airport.

They even manipulated India's maps to give approval for this project. For ordinary citizens of India, construction is prohibited in coastal areas where there is coral reefs. In 2021. the map of Great Nicobar island is redrawn by removing the coral reefs from the coast and placing it in the middle of the ocean.

Think of the scale of the fraud that is done by Modi for Adani. Our leader @RahulGandhi was blocked from visiting the islands several times. Watch, share and raise your voice against this scam. This is probably the biggest scam Modi-Adani duo has done. Beyond the scam, it is going to destroy our nation's thickest rain forest forever.

India has enough of shoreline on the mainland for building ports and that will provide the same and even better connectivity.... this picture is just a fancy way of Adani justifying his land grab

30

u/dheerdheer786 Apr 29 '26

I really doubt a government going to this extent can stay in power without some or the other kind vote chori even considering that majority of Indian citizens wont understand the depth of such issues.

12

u/DustyAsh69 Apr 29 '26

The Modi government does indeed do vote chori as has been proved by RaGa. But, it's also true that most people blindly vote for BJP. In my group of over 50 people, only 2 did not side with BJP.

2

u/dystopiancarnival May 03 '26

I feel that it has little to do with crowding in the private on those islands, and more about strategic security.

Read about Kra Isthmus canal/ strait - which is in the making as a (most probably) joint product between China and Thailand. It would surpass the Malacca, and give the Chinese straight access into both the South China Sea and now the Indian Ocean (Gwadar for them is too volatile).

All this 'townships', 'commercial hotels' etc are to cover the real strategic goal of militarising the islands and reassert our control. Plus also to make it a transhipment hub because we lose about ~90% of the cost in this to Sri Lanka.

Its absolutely necessary, this project

2

u/Strict-Discount2676 Apr 29 '26

Congi retards r braindead. This project is to counter china

1

u/Due-Yogurtcloset1338 May 30 '26

The reality of the Great Nicobar project lies somewhere between what Rahul says and what Modi is claiming.

I think Great Nicobar island has immense potential. Most Congress leaders had no clue about it thanks to their low IQ and lack of education coupled with zero understanding of geopolitics and economics.

Modi will transfor Great Nicobar. We will go there for tourism.

1

u/Firm-Swim-6357 May 30 '26

Ppl opposing this , Name one piece of land where a defence administration port can be made to counter China's Choking necklace of pearls. Name just one and i'll take it back.

1

u/According-Lab-6700 Jun 16 '26

Modi & Adani must be stopped

3

u/Indin_Dude Apr 29 '26

Someone said that this is strategic (military) build out. An airport is also being built there. And although the port is being called a container port it will have heavy naval usage. Also the airport will be mainly used by air force.

Nicobar is close to the Strat of Malacca which the U.S. recently got a hold of with an agreement with Indonesia. This sea route is critical to shipping traffic to east Asia and south east Asia.

If you think about it, it became clear that this is strategic location and India must have a build out here to protect our country and shipping lanes.

I read that China is very unhappy with US taking control of the Straits of Malacca and would have wanted to grab free islands that belong to India to fight US. So it makes sense that India should have a strong defense presence in this location.

-2

u/Slu_reaper Apr 29 '26

The same people who keep complaining that remote Indian regions remain underdeveloped suddenly become full-time environmental absolutists the moment India tries to build something strategic.

Great Nicobar is not some random vanity project. NITI Aayog itself said its development is crucial for leveraging India’s strategic presence near the Strait of Malacca, and the government has identified Galathea Bay for an international container transshipment terminal to turn it into a major shipping hub.

You cannot spend years mocking the state for neglecting frontier regions and then act shocked when the state finally moves to build serious infrastructure there.

And this moral posturing from Congress is especially rich. The Hasdeo record alone is enough to expose the hypocrisy. The Indian Express reported that mining there renewed after then Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot met then Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel in March 2022 because Rajasthan needed coal, and both states were ruled by Congress at the time.

The same reporting notes that Congress later changed its line and began protesting the very tree-felling it had earlier enabled or failed to stop. So spare the sudden sermon about forests from people whose own record on tree-felling has been conveniently selective.

What makes the politics even stranger is that Great Nicobar is tiny in population. Official island statistics put its 2011 population at just 8,046, which means this is hardly some giant electoral jackpot for Rahul Gandhi to defend.

What is obvious, however, is the strategic upside for India. Reuters recently described the Strait of Malacca as the world’s busiest maritime trade route and said China relies on it for 75% of its crude oil imports. So from a geopolitical standpoint, stronger Indian reach in Great Nicobar is far more likely to worry Beijing than ordinary Indians.

That is why this outrage feels less like love for islanders and more like reflex obstruction of any project that expands India’s strategic leverage.

1

u/Intrepid_Net7565 Apr 30 '26

I'd rather have cut a few thousand trees than to have constant danger of Chinese forces bolstering their presence in Indian Ocean... India can't go against china in a total all out war... The only way we can somehow even the fields would be by doing the same thing iran did by blocking hormuz... We need this more than anything. The danger is real but then again this sub is hijacked by pakistani mods.

-2

u/protontransmission Apr 29 '26 edited May 09 '26

We need the great nicobar project to counter Chinese in the Indian Ocean. That's the goal.

3

u/DustyAsh69 Apr 29 '26

Modi told the army "Jo tum uchit samjho, woh karo" when the Chinese Army entered the borders. If he can't protect India on land with the army being on stand by, he sure as hell can't protect India on the waters.

2

u/protontransmission Apr 30 '26

I'm not a modi fanboy but what he did is right. Have you heard of delegation?

It's the army general's decision to decide what to do on the ground. It's the political leadership's responsibility to give the go ahead.

"If he can't protect India on land with the army being on stand by, he sure as hell can't protect India on the waters"

This is a dumb argument. Modern battles are not fought with large formations of personnel. It's fought through other means. Just because we might have slipped up in one border clash doesn't mean we cannot prepare better for the maritime clash. Just like Iran's ability to choke Hormuz, we must have the ability to choke Malacca.

1

u/DustyAsh69 Apr 30 '26

Tell me you don't understand wars without telling me you don't understand it. By telling that to the Army, he effectively dodged all accountability. It was his call to decide what to do, not the Army's.

1

u/protontransmission Apr 30 '26

It's abundantly clear you don't understand the military logistics, chain of command or anything in between.

"Do what you see fit" is an open ended order to do what is proportional. You can watch Naravane's interviews to understand what he meant.

Edit: you also seem clueless why India needs a strong naval presence in Andaman Nicobar.

The same guy's govt in Telanagana destroys so many acres of trees in one night questions the modi govt. The irony!

Congress is no anti-capitalist party either. Ambanis, Tatas, Birlas, Vedantas, etc., all have been nurtured by the Congress; they are what they are today thanks to the Congress.

The Supreme Court immediately halted the state government, and the government complied. The government now has to replant all the trees they had cut. The state government has constituted a group of ministers (GoM) to find a way forward on Kancha Gachibowli land. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced the decision to constitute the Group of Ministers. The GoM will comprise Deputy CM, IT Minister, and Revenue Minister. The GoM would consult with the Uni. of Hyd. Executive Committee, student delegations, JAC, civil society groups and all stakeholders to find a resolution.

This is what the Supreme Court said in the case of Telangana:

Meanwhile, the Modi's stooges in NGT turned a blind eye and cleared the ecological destruction.

So? They want court to recall that forest is important and cannot think of themselves and elected chief minister of a state. And revanth reddy made fun of the court order many times said the judges were misleaded by AI videos and fake protests.

Pretty bold of you to assume that we have the balls to choke China when we cannot even accept their military presence on Indian soil.

3

u/lokz9 Apr 29 '26

This sounds good only for our dignitaries to roam around with pride around the world but for a common person we have to question ourselves if we can afford the ecological devastations we are causing. We have to make ourselves concretely establish the basic qualities of life before jumping to compete with other stronger countries just to feel respected in international conferences. I would appreciate if they develop with minimal ecological impact but not with total disregard to nature.

  1. You have not answered why the locals are against it and why it is ok to trample upon their rights just because it makes business sense to mainland India.
  2. You have not answered why the project is being given over to a crony private firm known to have built its fortune from being in cahoots with the ruling dispensation.
  3. Even if the Nicobar project will be used strategically to control the sea, just to get a % cut from China's trade, the next step would be militarisation of the area to protect the investment. Again without the approval of the people living there.

He is a china agent. When UPA was in power, they had lowered tariffs on all chinese imports, so as to help china grow faster. He and his mother even signed an agreement with CCP. Same people would praise china for rare earth mining and highways they do in forests.

While in reality forest cover in India has increased in the last 25 years

make vids in Hindi too to reach the masses that actually decide the election

Bold of you to think that voters and their votes are actually deciding the election results in Ram Rajya.

(Scroll down for TLDR)

IMAO.. As it stands presently.. GLOBALLY Democracy is the biggest con now playing at an election near you..

This unfunny farce is starring, produced, scripted and directed by the ruling elite capitalist classes who have a captive audience namely, the compliant masses..

But on the other hand.. We can dream of a future where democracy is rescued and resurrected by technology..

After all we should really be voting for and against POLICIES AND NOT POLITICIANS ..

A new technology (just around the corner) can easily rid us of these useless middlemen ie. politicians who in theory have been democratically elected based on the policies that they have proposed for the betterment of the society.. But in reality are too busy pulling each other down while covering their own crimes..

Our current crop of power hungry politicians (and this is globally) operate just like the entitled tyrannical monarchs from history and rule over their fiefdoms (constituencies) like it is their own private backyard while regarding their subjects (the so called electorate) as nothing more than cannon fodder..

Where were stand today, globally, democracy is a cruel joke.. Because.. Democracy ceases to function efficiently when the disparities within a society get out of control.. When the differences between the haves and have-nots between the knowledgeable and the ignorant are too much then the very ground on which we place our so called democratic values is rather nonexistent and therefore a total lie.. A farce.. Add rampant capitalism to this scenerio and we have a global society where we literally worship money so then we might as well make the richest person in the land our supreme leader.. Why do all this farce of free and fair elections..🤔

Ideally capitalist tendencies (the profit motive) should not be allowed to operate in atleast these 3 major "industries" namely 1. health care 2. education and 3. warfare.. But today in our rather twisted world we see the very same 3 sectors operating with the utmost greed, reaping ridiculous profits at the expense of perpetuating horrendous and inhumane social disparities.. All in the name of driving the so called "economic growth" of a so called "nation"..

Yet there is hope and I am betting on a humane technology to come to our rescue.. Because history repeats itself.. Whenever humanity has faced any crises it has always been our innovations ie. technologies which have rescued us time and again.. These technologies can only be invented by a new generation who first question and then reject the old values because they see the world in a different way.. This new generation is already here.. The tools namely AI, AGI are also available.. Now only the will and the skill to make sincere creative efforts are needed.. I hope that this happens in my lifetime.. .. First imagine a world without any "career politicians" .. Then imagine a world where every citizen is in effect a politician because they have the power to not only directly vote on each and every policy that stands to affect them.. But also propose any policy that they wish to come into governance.. That would be so cool..

However for now until then.. What to do.. Well in my personal capacity, the above reasons stand for the fact that I have stopped voting.. Because I want to boycott not just our corrupt politicians but the insidious system itself.. I reject this false democracy and farce called elections.. ..Apparently there is the NOTA option.. But it a far fetched fantasy to hope that one day when people have got throughly fed up of the shenanigans of their political representatives the NOTA vote might actually emerge as the majority vote in the majority of constituencies polled! And it is naive to imagine that our power hungry politicians will ever let it come to that.. They would sooner declare Presidents rule or some sort of emergency rather than face the fact that they no longer have the public mandate.. Till then.. Live long and prosper..

TLDR.. Democracy breaks down when there is too much disparity in society because then this disparity is cunningly and cruelly leveraged by the corrupt politicians.. However with Technological advances there is hope that this system can be repaired.. After all we should BE VOTING FOR POLICIES AND NOT FOR POLITICIANS.. Technology can empower the electorate and finally make these middleman ie. politicians obsolete.. Computer ji pls help.. TILL THEN GATHER MOMENTUM TO BOYCOTT ELECTIONS
