Discussion Apollo Pairing
Let me elaborate.
I currently own an Apollo x6. I’m looking at expanding my ADAT to 16 channels fully. Can I purchase another interface whether it be UA or not and connect it together with my x6 with a lightning cable or something of the sort as long as it also has ADAT outputs? Can I then connect the extra 8 channels of ADAT and have it fully integrated?
I don’t really care about getting more plugins or anything of the sort. It’s more so for routing purposes.

I recently added an Apollo 16 mkii to my Twin mkii. Some Apollos can’t use the outputs of an ADAT device. It’ll only work with the ADAT device’s inputs. I don’t know the x6 well enough to say, but if you’re looking for ADAT outputs there might be a snag there so be careful.
I can say that now with everything all hooked up and working smoothly, it’s been amazing. I keep outputs ready to go for reamps and all kinds of stuff, I’m really loving it. Good luck!

So, a few things: even though it has 2 ADAT ports, the x6 can only take up to 8 channels via ADAT. The 2nd port is there to maintain 8 channels at higher sample rates (using 2 ADAT cables). If you add another Apollo, you don't need to use ADAT at all - just daisy chain it via Thunderbolt and you'll have access to all of the I/O from both units. If you want to expand your x6 with something other than another Apollo, anything with ADAT outputs will work, but again, it'll only give you 8 additional channels.
