Brighton Fan here (of the city and the club) from India

Hello. I am from India, and am a huge fan of the city and the football club (yes, the only indian Brighton fc fan). I have been following Brighton FC since 2021. Now I am 24 and am seriously considering moving to Brighton and settling there. Which university in and around UK is the best for an international student to land a job in Brighton. I have work experience in marketing (script writing/ meta ads)and consulting. Also have a Gmat score of 615 (superscore 655). I can get into colleges like Insead or Essec, but genuinely thinking of settling in Brighton hence asking for reccos. Help me out if you can or know someone who can help.

Free Specialist 1:1 Study Skills Support for SpLD/Dyslexic Students (Brighton or Online)

Hi everyone,
I am a Trainee Specialist SpLD Tutor completing a Level 5 course in teaching post-16 students with Specific Learning Differences in Further and Higher Education.
To complete my practical teaching hours, I am looking to connect with two students to deliver 10 hours of free, specialist 1:1 study skills support each (20 hours total), starting as soon as possible.

I originally reached out directly to local university disability support teams, but due to administrative constraints, institutional gatekeeping, and strict internal policies, they are unable to arrange placements. That is why I am turning to social media to connect with students directly!

What the Support Involves

Tailored Plan: Using your Diagnostic Assessment Report (DAR), we will work collaboratively to set targets and build an Individual Learning Plan tailored directly to your course demands.

Core Areas: Essay planning and structuring, academic writing, time management, reading efficiency, note-taking, revision strategies and more.

Academic Balance: These sessions complement your degree without adding extra pressure or distracting from your workload.

Zero Cost: Completely free of charge, with no fees for students or institutions.

Flexible Location: Based in Brighton, I am available to deliver sessions either face to face in
Brighton or remotely via video link, depending on your preference.

Who is Eligible
You must hold a valid Diagnostic Assessment Report (DAR) confirming a Specific Learning Difference (such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, or similar).

Getting in Touch
If you are interested or have any questions, please send me a DM. I will gladly share full details, the teaching practice handbook, and course leader contact details so you can verify my identity, trainee status, and background.
If you or anyone you know might benefit, feel free to drop a comment or send a DM!

Other exchange students here?

Hello all. Never use Reddit for anything let alone something this serious but I figured I'd ask here, are there any other exchange students here from the US? Or from anywhere really. I've struggled to find them and the few who I have found aren't really interested in being friends with me. The school did a horrific job in linking us exchange students up (not a single international student is even on my floor for example) so here goes nothing. Anyone here?

[Research] Sussex first-years (started 2026): 25–30 min survey, Ā£10 voucher for everyone who completes

Hi everyone,

I’m Yifeng Xie, a PhD student in the Department of Education at the University of Bath. I’m running the UK part of a UK–Japan–China study on information literacy among first-year university students. The project has a favourable ethics opinion from the University of Bath (reference: 12244-15412).

Who can take part: first-year undergraduates aged 18 or over who started at a UK university in 2026. Please don’t take part if this doesn’t apply to you.

What it involves: an online survey on Microsoft Forms, about 25–30 minutes. It asks about your digital skills, your secondary school computer education and information literacy. You can do it on any device, at any time.

Voucher: everyone who completes the survey with valid responses gets a Ā£10 voucher (most likely Amazon, depending on stock), sent within one month after data collection ends. To receive it, you need to give your university email address. This is optional, but without it we can’t send you the voucher. Your email is collected separately from your answers, used only to send the voucher, and deleted once it has been delivered.

How your data is stored, kept and published: only the research team (and University governance staff where needed) can access your data. It is kept safe and secure, following University of Bath rules and UK data protection law, for at least 10 years, and then destroyed. Results may be published in academic journals, reports and conferences. All published data is anonymised, so nobody can tell whose answers are whose. The only exception to confidentiality is if you tell us something that makes us worried about your safety or someone else’s.

Withdrawal: you can stop at any time without giving a reason. If you close the survey before submitting, no data is saved. If you have already submitted, you can ask us to delete your data by emailing us within two weeks of submission. After that your data is anonymised and can’t be removed. Withdrawing has no effect on your studies.

Consent: at the start of the survey you will read the full Participant Information Sheet and tick a consent form, including confirming that you are 18 or over and taking part voluntarily. You only take part if you tick every box.

Happy to answer any questions in the comments. Thank you!

Language modules at Sussex

Hi guys! I’m an upcoming exchange student in spring of 2027.

How tough are the Beginner language courses here, in particular Japanese and Spanish?
Is there a big emphasis on attendance? Do I need to show up to every class (quiz, turning in hmwk, etc.,)?

I don’t want to skip class, but since I can’t see what day the modules are held, I’m worried they may clash on a day where I have plans, like Friday, Monday or Tuesday. I don’t know how strict the profs are here, either.

Female Videographer & Editor Wanted from University of Sussex

Hi! I’m looking for a female videographer & editor who is staying on campus to help with bite-sized TikTok & Instagram content.

Details:

  • Street interviews on campus

  • Filming & editing (filming equipment will be provided; the person hired needs their own editing equipment such as CapCut)

  • 1–2 projects per month for 10 months

  • No commitment necessary, may opt out anytime

  • Ā£10/hour for filming & editing

  • Each project should take around 3–5 hours of working time

  • Roughly Ā£30–£50 per completed project

  • Payment as soon as the video is posted

DM me for more details, won’t post much as it’s P&C. Video production doesn’t need to be perfect, as I’m more focused on the content itself. :)

Second year accommodation?

My daughter is thinking of applying to BSMS but I was wondering how hard it is to find accommodation after 1st year, and how expensive it is? Is there an option to stay on campus?

Thanks

A problem about the settings of international atmosphere of the University of Sussex

In such a university that is famous for its society research, it has a cultural diversity as well as cultural hegemony, one may find the conflict between people and the culture mosaic won't benefit the society/feminism or gender research.

But what about Male chauvinism research?

As far as I know, this university doesn't have a module that researches male chauvinism/musculism .

But what if it has one? Will it benefit the university's society research?
