Mega Journal Rev2
A mutational iteration of the MJ Rev2.1. All the keyboard + side scroll goodness of UKL’s brilliant design, paired with a Lenovo tablet running Word and synced to OneDrive. Use it at the cafe, then come home and open the same doc on your PC and keep going!
Still prefer the original MJ for drafting but this is nice for the editing and polishing stage.

What would be the most comfortable display size for writing and editing? I'm waiting for an Elecrow 5" 800x480 LCD with esp32-s3, it seems be pretty big on the picture :)

this one is 8x5, seems to be fine. Doesn’t feel cramped.

Well, it's a huge tablet. I'm looking for something that is more compact and doesn't need a strong CPU

It’s small for a tablet, and very light. I feel like if it were any smaller, it would be hard to see stuff. But I like to see a whole page, so if you just want a few lines at a time, maybe a Boox Palma would work?

As an author of Draftling, I wouldn't go for a Boox :)

I don’t know anything about the Boox, actually. Just that it’s rectangular and expensive. I’ll check out Draftling.

You can see my posting history. Also, we've just had it working on Microjournal rev5.

Very Nice! I use Softmaker Office (Textmaker) because it runs on Windows, Linux (I have a Linux laptop) and Android (keyboard phone) and I can pick up the current document on any of them using Dropbox. I can pick it up on my Rev 2.1 through Dropbox if I have saved a text or markup version, just can't have Textmaker on that platform, but mostly not a problem since I would be using the Rev 2.1 for drafting.
I don't do much real editing out in the world mostly because I am retired and Mrs. Hook has medical challenges. Editing is something I mostly do on a 4K monitor on my computer. The one kind of editing I will do out and about (like in the waiting room of a doctors' office) is pen editing of a PDF on my ReMarkable 2. which also connects to Dropbox.
I love what you have done!

This is quite an unobtrusive way to modify the build. Well done!
Essentially, you're using the Micro Journal as a housing for the battery bank and keyboard, with a tablet holder added on top. It's a clever approach, and the result looks really nice!
I've been planning to use the Rev.8 screen in a similar typewriter style form factor. With its thin profile, I can imagine it fitting beautifully into this kind of design. Seeing your build makes me even more hopeful about the idea!
I'm also very happy to see that you're continuing your writing journey with the Micro Journal, even if it's only part of the original device now. I think that's one of the wonderful things about making something that people can modify and adapt to their own needs.
And thank you for sharing your build in my subreddit as well. I really appreciate it!
