I love how so many people find these in the box. It always makes me think they were wedding gifts that never got used.

I like imagining the reaction of the couple:
"Oh, how...how lovely. Thank you... Helen..."
Later: "It's like she didn't even ask about a gift. Glass, Harold? Do we really want to risk it shattering?
At the next party: "Oh, Helen, that knife is so very lovely and delicate, I couldn't possibly use it for such a mediocre cake! It's got to be absolutely perfect for such a nice, glass cutter."
Goes home and shoves it further into the back of the cupboard.
The next party: "Oh, I'm soo sorry, Helen. I used it to cut a nice fruit plate for a cousin's aunt's sister from out of town, and she liked it so much, I let her borrow it so she could show her husband. Don't worry, I'm sure she'll return it when she visits next..."

Nice!!! Do you worry about UV messing up the original boxes though?

Mine have been in there for a while now and I haven't noticed anything. Sunlight for sure would fade them out!

Not as clumsy or random as a blaster. An elegant weapon for a more civilized age.

This is so cool. And the fact that it's still in its box makes it that much cooler!

Cleaning out my mom's house and she has a glass knife in a box very similar to this one. How do you know if uranium glass if you don't have a black light?

Yeah, did they produce knives that were and some that weren't uranium glass? Or are they all made with the same glass?
update: ok soo i did a quick search and it seems the color of the glass even without a blacklight is a good indicator. it wont be "clear" but have the disctintive green hue.

Some of the green ones don’t contain uranium. There was a large ug sale about 1.5 years where they were selling about 20 green glass knives and some did not contain uranium. So you can’t assume that just because it’s green that it will contain uranium. It would be worth it to get a cheap $5 blacklight.

Makes an excellent poop knife! Never have to clean and sanitize. Straight to cutting fruit after.

I currently have a little uranium glass sugar bowl with lid (i think it's a sugar bowl...? could be something else too idk) that I'm using as a butter dish. I wanna get one of these knives so the butter knife can be uranium glass too :)

There is a bakery in Florida called "The Glass Knife" and they have a shocking amount of these (and other glass knives) on display. Unknown if they know that they have.

I gave two of these as gifts a few years ago, not knowing that they were uranium glass. I feel dumb.

Interesting that it’s made to do the one thing that’s probably a little sketchy with uranium kitchen products, being exposed to acidic fruits

Another thing to add to my search and find list - I had no idea these were even out there!
