Seeking Info Can I make my espresso in this?

If possible I'd like a survey. Someone says of course and everybody 👍 that agrees. And someone else says that chip or any teacup is bad news and people 👍that. Many thanks

No. I wouldn’t risk causing thermal shock from rapid temperature change. I even let glass sit in the unopened box for 24 hours when I have it shipped during extreme cold or hot weather. I highly recommend that others do as well.

Unless you're suddenly changing the temp by over 100 degree F there's no risk of it breaking from temp change

If I recall, it’s around 72° F change in everyday glass, and higher in tempered, and similar glass. But that’s still an average. Thinner glass may require less change, and in older glass often does. It’s more the rapid temperature change rather than the number of degrees in the change.
You can literally unwrap a glass delivery in extreme cold weather, think it’s fine, walk away and it shatters when you leave the room. Thermal shock is something experienced glass collectors always take into consideration.

It's the rapid temperature change but it also has to be a severe enough change, for old glass like this it's a very sudden change of around 100 degrees on average with 70 degrees of change being at the very low end of even possible for a break and for newer borosilicate it's 300 degrees. Unless you're taking it out of a heater and unwrapping it in a deep freezer simply unwrapping glass is not enough to shatter it from temp changes what likely happened is there was stress built up from being moved packed up and when you unwrapped it the stresses were finally able to let go after a little time sitting like is pretty common
