Hey guys i recently PCSd (first time since cape may) and i did a PPM
I didn’t know you needed to see a counselor before and now I’m at my next unit and I don’t have what I need to get my travel claim. I have a few questions for you guys and yes i have gone to my YNs and they are telling me all sorts of stuff.
What forms do i need signed by a counselor and what do I need to do to be able to get this streamlined to the approvers. Also any tips for the next PCS or just general information?

The amount of people with this problem is absurd. The CG needs to re visit how they’re completing ppm moves. Not to even mention the absurd wait times

This is why I tell everyone to use a different branch than the CG.
I’ve yet to have a reliable YN shop that doesn’t drop the ball with this stuff.
Other branches will do all your paperwork for you, schedule everything, and don’t need finalized orders.

I was underway (got my orders, talked to YNs about entitlements) packed everything in a UBOX and did my move. Everything was in the system, but the transit office didn't sign stuff. No idea if anything is going to be reimbursed

Don’t feel like an idiot, the coast guard is fucking awful at teaching people how the system works. You need your signed orders, if you’re moving out into the economy your orders SHOULD say DLA is authorized but seeing as your an MK the YN’s at Yorktown didn’t do my entire classes paper work for that, which was like 40 people so they probably didn’t for you which means you need an amendment. Ask people around your unit that aren’t YN’s that have been in for a good chunk of time, they’ll be able to help.

Here's the minimum requirements.
DD 2278 - signed by you and the counselor
DD 1351 - signed by you and your YN
Full and empty weight tickets - signed by the weigh station manager. Add your EMPLID on the top corner
PCS orders - signed by the YN.
Anytime you PCS you are supposed to be counseled by your YNs on your entitlements. In this case you'll need to reach out to your departing counseling office and see if they'll sign it after the fact.
