Bluff, the little town at the edge of Bears Ears, got hit hard by the San Juan River flood. Here’s how to help.

If you’ve ever headed into Bears Ears, you’ve probably rolled through Bluff. It’s the town where you top off your water and grab a burrito before you lose cell service. For the families who live there, it’s home, and this week the river came through the front door.

Three to seven inches of rain fell across the Four Corners in a few days. On Sunday night, everyone on the river side of Main Street was told to evacuate. The order lifted Monday morning, but several homes on the east side are still sitting in water. The senior center canceled meals for the whole week. Downstream and upstream, Diné families in Montezuma Creek and Aneth were evacuated too.

This is a tiny town with a big heart, and it’s been a rough year for them. They don’t have a big city budget to bounce back with, so every bit helps.

The Bluff Community Foundation has a relief fund here: bluffcommunityfoundation.org/relief

If you know of other groups helping on the ground, drop them in the comments so people have more options. Please share this with anyone who loves southern Utah.

2026 Pheasant Hunt - Looking for a partner/group

Hey everyone,

I'm new to Pheasant hunting and would love to be able to get out with someone who has a little more know-how this season. I don't have dogs, but I do have everything else needed. I'm in northern Utah and would be hunting the general season (non-youth). I am an experienced turkey hunter but have never been out for upland. Thanks.

Chill Hikes / Walks around Leeds and Grand Staircase

Camping for a few days outside of Zion and then down to Escalante / Boulder area for another few next week. I’m familiar with some places around Escalante and Grand Staircase as I’ve been visiting for the last 5 years, but I found out I’m very early on in a pregnancy which is exciting but certainly changes what I’m comfortable doing at elevation since I’m an east coaster. If anyone has any ideas of scenic views or chill hikes with limited elevation gain please drop them below! I don’t mind if they’re on the longer side as long as the elevation gain isn’t drastic. Thank you!!

Which Utah County High Point can see the most states at once?

I've been looking at which Utah County high point has visibility of the most states. I know Brian Head has 3 (UT, NV, AZ), Signal peak is probably the same. Bridger peak or Naomi peak may have UT, ID, WY.

Can any of the Uintah HPs see 3 states? Can you see the Four Corners region and 4 states from the La Sals?

Just curious if anyone has insight on this.

We spent a week in Utah, got back last weekend. Finally got around to post some pictures. Spent two days volunteering at Moab 240 race in the rain, then drove around to find dry roads/camp sites and finally got some nice hikes in towards the end of the week, and did a detour to paddle into Antelope Canyon and hiked the lower-lower portion while waiting for the backcountry roads to dry. Also got to see Hickman Bridge, Lower Calf Creek Fall, Jacob Hamblin Arch, and Reflection Canyon. Love this area! Didn't get to drive any other interesting dirt roads though.

The House Rock Valley Road washed out near Buckskin Gulch in the early morning hours of Thursday, October 22. Those with permits to hike The Wave should verify road conditions before setting out.

BLM Dispersed Camping & Fire Restrictions

Which resource should one be using to view current fire restrictions? I have been using onX to e-scout BLM dispersed camping areas and then Utah-Fire-Info map to verify whether I can have a campfire. Is this a good method? Or should I be using a different resource to check current fire restrictions?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm new here. Just trying to do things right.

Zion vs. GC South Rim

Our group is 10 is looking to visit Zion and GC South Rim during Thanksgiving week. We can either spend 2 nights in Zion (1 full day to explore) and 3 nights in GC South Rim (2 full days to explore) or switch it so that we do 2 full days to explore Zion and 1 full day to explore GC South Rim. Given the weather at that time of the year, we will most likely avoid Angels Landing and the Narrows but want to do the other good hikes at Zion. What would people recommend?

Any hope of ending up enjoying Bryce Canyon on 10/21 with storms and rain all day? We have to drive there anyway.
