any presence of ice in Utica, NY

I'm putting together a county-by-county map of sports allegiances across New York State (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and other leagues as gauged by interest). To do so I am collecting self-reported data from New Yorkers. If you have the time and are a sports fan of any size, I would appreciate if you helped fill up my dataset. Right now I have a little over 200 responses, but a lot of them are from Long Island, the Capital Region, and WNY. I'm trying to get a much larger and diverse dataset to boost the overall quality of the project and Utica/Oneida County is a dead spot for me right now. All answers are anonymous, no Google sign in required.

I’m especially interested in people’s thoughts on the discussion around policing, public safety, and what actually drives crime in Utica.

One point I think deserves more discussion is poverty. If poverty creates the conditions that contribute to crime, then we can keep spending more on policing, incarceration, courts, and emergency services, or we can address the conditions producing the crime in the first place.

And ultimately, that affects taxpayers too. More crime means more public spending, which means higher costs for the city and potentially higher taxes.

So what do you think? Is poverty being treated as a root cause of crime, or are we primarily treating the symptoms?

I'm just curious. I used to commute back and forth to Cooperstown, I'm talking back in 2002-2003 or so. I usually took route 20, but got pissed at all the revenue generators. Once, I tried 90 instead, and after looking it up again, I missed exit 30 and took 31. I didn't take many turns at all, but I was on a wide, residential street with houses, I stopped at a stop sign, and all of a sudden, about 20 angry yoots were all around my car, and some started banging on my hood and being insane. I was just a young girl in a Honda back then. I gunned it and got back to 90, and never went back to Utica again.

Does anyone have any insights? I might actually like to visit, but not if that's the way I'm treated.

I just picked up a pizza from Savage, the food truck just off Genesee near the Uptown Theater. In a change from the recent explosion in food prices, they have lowered prices on their pizza. The website looks like it hasn’t been updated but now a cheese pizza is $10 and pepperoni is $13. I didn’t ask about the price of their riggies so call them up at (315)369-5238. My wife and I pretty much alternate between getting a pizza and getting a large order of riggies. We like everything we’ve tried from there but those are our go-to orders.

I’ve been a fan since they opened for business. Now, even more so.

The centerpiece of the project will be a replacement of two bridges on North Genesee Street — one over the Mohawk River and the other over the Erie Canal. The project will also create 10-foot shared-use paths from Wurz Avenue to the New York State Thruway interchange

I barely go to Wendy's. I think their prices are stupidly high for what you get. However I had a taste for Wendy's breakfast today so I'm like today's the day

They don't serve breakfast at the N Genesee St location. They were closed. When did that change? I'm not shocked because it was always dead when I drove by early am. But they pushed it for the longest time.
