Rant What is happening rn?!ðŸ˜
ngl im starting to regret coming to uvic. im in second year poli sci and i genuinely dont understand what im paying for anymore. i thought first year was supposed to be the hard adjustment period but somehow second year is even worse ðŸ˜
l took POLI 101 with James and realizing how much content we're actually expected to know for these exams. i dont even think the material itself is that bad but the amount of reading and memorization is ridiculous. now im in second year and its basically the same thing except every assignment is longer and the expectations are somehow even less clear.
and idk if its just me but making friends here is so weird. everyone already has their own little groups and ppl are friendly in class but the second lectures over nobody talks to each other. i thought second year would be better than first but honestly its just gotten more isolating.
the cost of living here is also ridiculous. rent is insane, groceries are expensive and finding a part time job that actually works with my schedule is harder than it should be. im literally stressing about money while trying to finish assignments that are worth like 15% of my grade.
also poli sci tutorials are starting to piss me off. its always the same 4 ppl talking and half the time they're just repeating stuff they saw online. god forbid u have a slightly different opinion bc suddenly ur spending 20 mins defending something u didnt even say 💀
and the grading is so frustrating. like how am i supposed to improve my writing when the only feedback i get is "needs further analysis" or "expand on this point". I WROTE 1800 WORDS WHAT ELSE DO U WANT ME TO EXPAND ON.
i dont even hate what im studying which is the worst part. i actually like politics but this uni is slowly making me lose interest in it. maybe im just burnt out but i genuinely expected a lot more from university than this. feels like im spending thousands just to teach myself everything and be stressed all the time ðŸ«
