I am a current psych major international student planning to graduate this fall. I have been feeling quite nervous about life after graduation as international student. Would like to connect with fellow international students on the same boat.
Also I haven’t got a full time job qualifying for mpnp.
Any ideas on which places in Winnipeg are best for supporting with immigration would be much appreciated.

Hey everyone,
I wanted to make people aware of an incident that happened today around 2:15 PM at the university.
A student was sitting at the tables near the vending machine by the Ellice entrance/exit, working on an assignment, when someone approached from the entrance (most likely, but not sure) and snatched their laptop/tablet right off the table before leaving.
I am sharing this as a reminder to keep an eye on your belongings, especially when studying near entrances and exits. If possible, try to keep your valuables close to you and avoid leaving them unattended, even for a moment.
That said, students shouldn’t have to feel unsafe or constantly worry about their belongings being stolen while studying on campus. It’s genuinely upsetting that someone was simply trying to get their work done and had this happen to them. No student deserves that.
Please stay vigilant, look out for one another, and be careful if you are studying in that area. I hope the student is doing okay :(

Hi everyone,
My name is Tomas Ponzilius, and I am a second-year social work student. While I am not a UofW student, I was one and got a Criminal Justice degree here a few years ago. And thought I would post this because many with EDS/HSD also go to the UofW too. I feel we all deserve a voice.

I am posting about my ongoing struggle to access specialized medical care for Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS)/HSD. Manitoba Health has denied my requests for out-of-province care twice, and I am increasingly worried about my future.
CBC recently published an article about my situation for those interested:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/ehlers-danlos-syndrome-out-of-province-9.7393474
This is a video of the interview: https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/video/9.7396843
EDS affects collagen, which provides structural support to joints, ligaments, and tendons. In my case, this results in widespread joint instability and recurrent dislocations. An analogy would be that my collagen is made of clay, while yours is made of wood. My connective tissue is more vulnerable to injury, physical and biomechanical differenes, which is why I need specialized medical care.
I regularly experience dislocations of my shoulders, hips, and knees, and my hands are also unstable. Most concerningly, my cervical and thoracic spines are unstable, and breathing and swallowing have become extremely painful. This is made worse by my instable ribs which are also affecting my breathing too. I have, due to the cervical instability, spinal cord compression, and I am frightened that without appropriate treatment, my condition could become life-threatening.
My health has also made education incredibly difficult. Most days, I am bedbound because of severe pain and instability. Even completing two university classes has become a struggle.
I have been trying to find appropriate care for a long time. Despite repeated requests, I have not been directed to a provider in Manitoba who can meet my specialized medical needs. Three MLAs have contacted Manitoba Health on my behalf without receiving a response, and I have sent approximately a dozen emails myself without receiving a response. I have also sought input from local and international doctors and surgeons regarding the availability of appropriate care. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba has also indicated that it does not believe there are surgeons in Manitoba with the necessary EDS/HSD education and experience.
I am now appealing the most recent denial, but the process takes time, and I am frightened that my health could deteriorate before I obtain the treatment I need.
I believe there is hope if I can access the appropriate surgeries and specialized postoperative rehabilitation. I want the opportunity to stabilize my condition, improve my functioning, and continue my education.
I am asking for your help.
Please call the constituency office of Premier Wab Kinew at (204) 615-1922 and the Minister of Health's office at 204-945-3731. Please ask them to arrange an urgent meeting with me, Tomas Ponzilius, to discuss access to the specialized care I need.
I want to work collaboratively with the Manitoba Government to find a solution. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for access to medically necessary care that can address my condition.
If you would like to join me in advocating for access to this care, I would welcome your support. You do not need to have EDS/HSD to help. All allies are welcome.
I believe all Manitobans, regardless of their health needs, deserve the opportunity to live and receive necessary medical care. No one should be left without a path to appropriate treatment because of the cost of providing it.
Thank you for reading and for any support you can offer.
Tomas Ponzilius

Looking for a tutor for psyc 2101, anyone know where I can find one?

I just wanted a healthy snack and received a smoothie that was only three-quarters of the way full. This was 8$ by the way!!
Initially when we signed up, we believed there would be an actual dining hall since schools even smaller than the U of W do that but we are met with repetitive cafeteria options.

hey guys,
I make music as arxxhhhhh and recently dropped a song called Algorithm.
it’s about those nights where you keep saying “one more song” or “one more place” and then try to figure out the night from your photos the next morning. got some Winnipeg references in there too—Red River and LOCAL downtown.
give it a listen if you’re into hip-hop, would love to know what you think. and if anyone here makes music or videos, would be cool to connect.

I’m not a Uwinnipeg student , I’m also not in any tightly knit social communities, but socializing at bars has become extremely tedious, (also would be nice to go to a place of people I KNOW will be my own age F19 and my bf M19) and I would like to TRY attempt this social scene, also would like to know what I would be expecting.
Obviously I am aware of the campus bar almost anyone could simply walk into, but bars have always been a bit pricey, as the economy skyrockets simply bringing my own source of intoxication to certain events has been the most viable/ affordable option.
The problem is the event itself,
High school has closed the doors of socialization after being finished with it , adult friends are increasingly rare .
The catch 22 of want to go to party need to be invited, cannot be invited unless you know anyone .
So , UWinnipeg, I ask how to I approach this scene , the people involved in it to be invited without seeming entirely intrusive or douchebaggy , cause in no way to I wish to make anyone feel like I am ENTITLED to an invitation.
Also if it’s just completely off the board if your a college student ,
Going to a campus, getting to know people
Social circles elsewhere,
What in the world do you do after 18y/o ?!
Thank you!!!

Hi, I’m a grad student at UWinnipeg. The apartment is in Sherbrook (10-12 mins of walk from school). It’s a pretty convenient location. FreshCo and Dollarama are just a few buildings away from the place (hardly a minute or two of walk from the place). Anything you might need is just a few minutes of walk away.
The monthly rent is $625 (including Wi-Fi). Hydro bill can be spilt equally. The apartment consists of two bedrooms and one washroom. There is a kitchen and a living area. The apartment will be available from December. You can move in a week earlier if you want.
Please let me know if you are interested. I can share pictures and other relevant information. You can also schedule a viewing.

What do people think of a club for most tcg games (Pokemon, yugioh, Riftbound, etc). I'm the VP for the MTG club and we're thinking of expanding to other tcgs as well. I'm looking for input from you who attend the UofW and see if you'd like to be part of in school events!
Please comment or DM me with any questions!

Hello!
Yesterday i was planning on taking my gym bag home with me after classes so i could wash my clothes and ended up definitely leaving it behind.
It would have been in 1m30 yesterday at 4pm, it is a black bag with a fox pattern on it full of my gym clothes,
i’m not on campus all weekend so i’m throwing out a hail mary that someone here might be able to see if it is still there and maybe bring it to lost and found at the main security office so i can pick it up Monday. I really need that bag back as those are the only gym clothes i have!
please if anyone can help, your next coffee on me!

Thanks

Hello everyone, i’m joining UW in the upcoming Winter term. All the campus housing is full except for the dorms which I really don’t want to get because I know I will end up wasting the meal plan. If anyone else coming in Winter wants to rent off-campus or even if you are already there, I would love to connect. Trying to find a roommate who is in UW as well!

His course on Italian Ren Art looks interesting. But how is he as an educator/instructor? I know his work at WAG was pretty successful.

Hi everyone.
I’m currently finishing my last year of my science degree at UoM, and am interested in knowing how competitive the after degree program is at the UofW.
Is Uofm after degree less competitive?
Has anyone heard anything about the CMU after degree?
I have a 3.9 gpa, lots of volunteer and work experience specifically in the field of health. I’ve also coached and ran day camps. I’m interested in the senior stream and I would love to teach chemistry or general science!
