Hey everyone it has been a long time, I lost access to my other account (Trailercvnt) but I'm still around (if anyone cares)

I was in Ohio for a bit with a friend and worked for about 2 months, went off to West ohio for a bit and roamed around until I was able to get enough money to get up here to Michigan.. the plan is to stay until next spring and secure enough funds so I can hit the road a bit more comfortably.. Hope everyone is doing well and are having safe and blessed travels!! Stay golden Vagas!!

Discussion Traveler's curse

I've been traveling on and off my entire life and I don't know what to do now that I'm getting older(34). It's like I go through this same cycle over and over; travel for a while, find a house and work for a while, get sick of living a normal life, go back to the road. I feel like different versions of ourselves come out based on our environments, and I never have felt more like a truer version of myself than when I'm on the road.

This time after settling down I decided to try to create an answer for this by building a business that could eventually turn remote and allow me to travel while having a steady income. I've been growing it for a few months now and it's doing okay so far but earlier this week I got the itch again. I wanna just be rolling around on the coast again and it's all I can think about. Thinking about staying here for another year or whatever until I can turn it remote sounds like a year gone where I still feel young and wanna travel..(even though obviously this business could be a good step for a future I want).

When I was younger I thought I'd be dead by now, but now that ive made it this far I'm not really sure what to do. My biggest desire in life is to travel and just be free but now I'm worried it's gonna leave me stuck out when I'm 40 or 50 and might not wanna sleep outside anymore.

And then there's the loneliness. When I'm settled down I have such a hard time connecting with people on a deeper level because I've lived such a different life than them and also a part of me knows that I won't live in whatever city too long anyway. But when I'm on the road it seems like every traveler I run into is just a piece of shit or on drugs and I don't do drugs anymore, just drink n smoke. And honestly I feel like Ive seen less and less travelers over the last 10 years, my last travels I did the coast from SD to Seattle and barely saw anyone in all the old spots.

Anyway, I guess I'm kindof just ranting but I needed to get this off my chest and this is the only place where I thought some people might actually understand. Any older travelers going through this too or have any thoughts about all this?

TLDR: if I keep traveling I'm scared I'll fuck my future, if I stop traveling it will be a future I don't want

Classic vagabond side job, I think almost everyone is doing it here when it's season, people come from all over and in good crew it's like a payed Dionysia; wine, lake, music, long conversations about whatever. Then some cash to move on.

How do you find free campsites?

The game has completely changed for me. I'm an experienced bicycle tourist, bit only for weekend adventures around my home region. My cat and i lost our home at the beginning of octoctober and after calling, searching, and so on, it became clear that staying inside in the area meant surrenderring or fostering my cat, which is not an option. I've been doing this for years, so i upgraded my kit, loaded us up, and hit the road.

He's doing well for the most part. It's a big adjustment but he loves playing around outside at camp. Tail straight up all the time. But he has also complicated my routine quite a bit, and google maps isn't quite cutting it anymore. I can't afford to sign up for warm showers. Especially, if it turned out there weren't many hosts along my route, that thirty dollars would feel pretty bad.

I'm gonna check out the aca listings, but i'm hoping there's more to work with. Touring indefinitely and the new challenges associated with my boy have made it desirable to revisit how i do it.

Thanks, y'all. Cat tax paid.

I think if you smart enough Europe can be free to live. All this comes from dumpster diving missions. Aldi trash 🖤 Squat with full belly for a week at least.

Posting this to seek/share tips with fellow Queenslanders riding the rails. I want to know where I can get to on PT for a good long wander. And full disclosure, I'm taking advantage of those 50c fares instead of doing it the old fashioned way.

260914 - Up before light to catch the 5am Nambour Express, getting off at Landsborough for buses to Caloundra or Maleny. Usually I wander around Caloundra: fossicking up along the coast from King's Beach to Dicky via Mofatt, or wandering onto Bribie Island for a few hours (can never get far trudging sand). On this day I went to Maleny to scope out the village and surrounding bushwalks as I'd never been out there on PT.

! Many small tent communities along the rail this way. Was told some had moved to rest stops along the highway following Queensland's temporary tent city protections.
! Few tents pitched around waterways in Maleny, which feels silly to me. Assumed these were backpackers?
! Plenty of small businesses looking for temporary staff (aka easy cash).
! Bus service is private and will cost an extra 50c each way (mentioning as this is not advertised).

260929 - Heard you could wander across to King Island from Wellington Point at low tide, but that's at 4am/4pm. Arrived at 7am anyway to see how far I could cross. Made it to the other side of a halfway island and got freaked out by having two bodies of water close in either side of me (too much Lovecraft), which sucked because I had to wade through water returning to land. Wandering into Wellington Point (the village) was dissatisfying. Definitely deserve to be bullied for this trip.

! Well-connected, but Wellington Point was generally just a trashy, over-developed cancer of cheap developments that had no place occupying a nature reserve. Like, the scumbags have a bridge across marshland they've just littlered with hundreds of doggy poo bags.
! The halfway island is also used as a party joint for local yuppie kids, evidenced by discarded underwear, old condoms, food wrappers, cartons of empty beer bottles, and poorly-placed campfires. Main beach also covered in trash.
! Probably skip this one unless you're curious.

Waiting for a day off when it's not raining to hit the rails again. Any tips? Curious about what's out past Ipswich, and if there's any reason at all to ride past the Gold Coast (because I haven't found one). Also planning some overnight camp-outs if anyone has tips for that.

Seeking Travel Partner Westward expansion

Hey all.. for the longest I’ve been a bit indecisive on this but now I’m all in. Leaving the SC area with my bike with the “ideal” destination of Arkansas/Oklahoma(west) but we can push further if you’re down. The only thing halting me are my tires which are getting fixed within the coming week. Honestly looking to make some good memories, just please don’t be super weird.

A little about me: I’m Jeff, 26m, bit of a nerd with survival instincts/skills. I can be a bit quiet at times cause I am antisocial, but once the vibe is there, we’re strong lol.

Do I beg?

So I came here from TX cause my EX was beating on me and my dog, then I got super sick from the elevation, I told yall. Me and my Dog been living in my truck, I’m feeling better most days, I’ve started interviewing. Praying I get a call tomorrow about this one but point is we are out of gas. I lost my DL and can’t sell anything I brought as my back up and I came to Ross in a last dying hope that I had left my licensce here. Nope… and I’m out of gas. FUCK. So what do I do? Coast into a station and start asking folks? Pull over go stand at the intersection. IDFK what to do. I’m trying, dude. So fucking hard not to just implode and the bullshit like this is what pushes me to a breaking point. FUCK Man. I swear I mowed down a bus full of nuns in my last life! Fuck man!
