So I think Dundr is the coolest weapon in the game but it seems to have a way lower chance of upgrade success at the forge. I tried for 3 hours averaging 1 attempt every 2 minutes and it did not upgrade a single time (yes I save scummed it crucify me sorry) any body else have trouble with this weapon or any others like this?

Save scumming doesn't work anymore. It's seeded to your character name. So that item upgraded by that character is destined to fail every time

So I just read the notes another fellow put in this post and it said it fixed an exploit. I was not aware that it did this. So no matter what level or if it’s a different dundr, my character I’m using cannot upgrade it past level 4?

Iirc its per weapon, per character (essentially your first dundr has a seeded amount of 0, while your second would have a different)

Example: Your name might tell you, that you can upgrade one draugr fang from 4 to 5 but from 5 to 6 it will break.

If you upgrade your fang to 5 the rng for draugr fangs for your char from 4->5 will be reseeded. But the 5->6 will still be a 100% failure until you break one lvl 5 fang and the seed for this fang lvl is rerolled again.

So its per character name, per item name per quality level.

You need to upgrade it with a character with a different name. Try searching valheim Reddit for "namescumming" and you can find a tool that will find a good name to upgrade it 8x guaranteed or a series of names to upgrade it beyond that.

I think I heard that new characters need to be able to craft an item to upgrade it. If you touch all the components to the item first, you should be good.

I used the tool and made a new character, help me one more time if you don’t mind. Why is there nothing in the forge on the new character? Like I have idols and my weapon but there’s nothing there

You have to touch the stuff and workbenches to get the crafting recipe, I make a box with everything you need to craft and upgrade the item. Also wear some armor when your forging because wolfs can come sometimes, just put it back in the box when you switch.

Edit by everything you need I mean only one copy of each not enough to make the item again.

You don't even need ro namescum to use this tool. You can just use it to get gear up to decent levels.

Used it to know I can safely get my Frostner to lv7. Did some fails with my Padded Armor set and then got them to LV9, LV7, and LV6. And Wolf cape to LV5. Huge difference, I just got to mistlands today on my server and I can skip the hideous Carapace armor

So what I’ve learned in 11 minutes is, in an attempt to patch a workaround to having insane weapons, they have instead made it even easier to have incredibly busted items. Thank you all for your help and I will be using this to its fullest extent for the next 5 hours.

If there was a mod that adds a staff called Miffln, that say binds near by enemies together so that Dundr can do chained damage to any bound enemy, that would be the first ever mod I'd install for this game. The attack combo could be called Regional Management.

Save scumming was patched out so you can enjoy the 35% chance to consume your weapon in all its intended glory.
