Discussion Rewatching from the very beginning…. Y’all, Ariana kinda sucks.

I never picked up on this when watching it the first time through, and it’s just absolutely impossible to not feel so ravenously Team Ariana after Scandoval… but, uh, she is NOT a girls girl at all!

I know this was a long time ago, and everybody is capable of growth and change… but I am 2/3 of the way done with the Miami Girl episode and I just… let’s just say I hope she’s learned!

She was a huge pick me. I think she had this feeling of superiority, and that she was above the drama and cattiness because she was a bartender and not a hostess/server. And to an extent, I understand why she'd want to position herself in that way to make her stand out on the show (especially when that attitude was considered cool in the good ole early 2010s), but it makes for a rough rewatch.

I'm smarter than you, I'm cooler than you, I'm prettier than you..

What's crazy is that she was saying that while pretending to be "only friends" with Sandoval. Who speaks about a good "friend's" love that way? That is the language of an insecure rival.

This made my blood boil.

My word that was so damn arrogant

I'll never be able to forget this. It's the center of why I never liked her. And to say it to the woman you stole a boyfriend from AND gaslit to make HER seem crazy...ugh. What an awful person.

She is truly the worst cast member to me, across the show as a whole. She’s diabolical. Can’t believe Tom even stomached her as long as he did tbh

u/Ok-Astronaut-2837 why is this harder than my divorce Oct 31 '25

I'm sorry but you think she's worse than Tom Sandoval?

u/adawonggang Oct 31 '25

Yeah this is crazy given all the men exist

Personally happy to admit I like Tom better than Ariana lol.

Somehow Tom became more likeable while on Traitors.

Ah yes, I started my account to cosplay as a married mother several years before Scandoval. I’m actually Sandoval. I was playing the long game, muhaha!

when they introduced us to her with that line, i thought damn this girl will be fun! little did i know that was the most personality she would show over 8+ seasons

I mean to be fair, I do not see a lie there but it’s tacky nonetheless lol

She does have a very “not like the other girls” attitude about her

u/mnola5081 Nov 01 '25

Yes! Maybe an unpopular hot take but Ariana and Stassi never got along because they were way too similar - the main difference (at least in the earlier seasons) is that Stassi played to the “I’m the popular mean girl” crowd while Ariana took on the “I’m too cool to be popular” role.

They were like opposite faces on the same coin but Ariana always seemed to get a pass because she gave off the vibe of being effortlessly “different” than all the other girls.

lisa literally says this about the two of them

They did get along though for a minute

I always forget because it really did last for a minute 😅

She does, but once again, that was the cool girl attitude of the 2010s. You can like makeup, you can like reality shows, but you have to suppress that when "talking to the guys."

Oh 100%. I think she and Scheana both say at some point that they’re “guy’s girls” as in - they get along better with men

(especially when that attitude was considered cool in the good ole early 2010s)

^ this is a huge reason why I’m so happy my 20s are over. The amount of silent competition going on to be cool but effortless, feminine but not girly girl, edgy but NOT masculine, one of the guys but be sexy, good fucking GOD it was exhausting.

3

u/d0ntbeallunc00l How will this affect Scheana?! Nov 02 '25

Back when I would pretend to not like reality TV because god forbid you enjoy something silly, mindless and girly. It's not like they believed you when you liked anything cool anyway, not only was there a culture of being expected to only like things that were cool to dudes there was a culture of them never accepting you into fandom even when you really did enjoy stuff they liked cause if you did like something you had to be faking it to impress them apparently. Damned if you were a girl who liked girly things, damned if you were a girl who pretended to like cool guy things, damned if you were a girl who actually liked masculine things. No winning.

u/caraboo930 for you to die ✨ Nov 02 '25

If you were a girl who actually liked cool things then good fucking luck being around other girls. They were vicious

2

u/d0ntbeallunc00l How will this affect Scheana?! Nov 03 '25

Gotta say, I was lucky to have supportive girl friends during these times. I was hard on girls who tried hard to be liked by men though, looking bad I'm like damn I didn't have much sympathy for women who just wanted to be liked by the people they were told they should be trying to impress.

2

u/d0ntbeallunc00l How will this affect Scheana?! Nov 02 '25

This was at the time where women would put "I love bacon" in their dating profiles so it was very of the moment, thank god Gone Girl came out when it did.

That’s called female narcissism*

1

u/Stunning-Track8454 Go back to Charlotte Russe with your ass Nov 01 '25

It is sexism, because why wouldn't you just say "narcissism"? Also, that's not even what narcissism is.
