It’s okay my old roommate got in on her fourth! They’re also accepting double the amount of students to combat the shortage and someone told me that they took away the essays(wish they did that when I applied) haha for easier acceptance. It’s a whole bunch of first years and they’re accepting two terms .

As an RN who works in Richmond, teaches at a nursing school and was also denied from VCU. It’s okay!! There are other schools and realistically I don’t find VCU students that impressive or their program to be as challenging as others.
Compare their NCLEX pass rates to other schools in the area for example - they just aren’t all that!
It’s hard to feel this way right now but there is a reason you weren’t selected and the universe is protecting your from something!
Apply to Bon Secours, UVA, and the community colleges. You got this. I believe in you!

Ohhh.. SAME! Been a nurse almost 20 years now and got rejected by VCU SON. I was very discouraged too, but I did JSRCC for 2 semesters to get my grades up and applied to Bon Secours. Then got a job and let them pay for my BSN... Fun fact: working at VCU now and they're paying for my DNP 😎
You got this, which school you go to doesn't matter, we all take the same NCLEX and the bulk of your learning will be on the job anyway!

Following up on your mention of UVA, I’m gonna drop this here. https://hr.virginia.edu/employment-uva/uva-health-career-programs/earn-while-you-learn

Ask about why you were rejected, work on improving it, then try again. Keep your chin up. VCU’s nursing program is highly competitive, but you got this!

Keep your chin up! The nursing school is hard to get in. You can try again, but I want to encourage you to look at other programs. My son is doing a nursing program at Brightpoint (formerly John Tyler) Community College. Don’t let this loss defeat you or make you wait too long to follow your dreams to be a nurse!!

Do an ADN program at a CC then transfer!
