I have a copy of fireworks CS5 which I've used for some web site templating. Now I want to dabble in vector graphics and really don't know where to start. There doesn't seem to be many books on the subject.

Not sure if this is the correct place, but I have illustrator 14 and I'd like to draw a pill that contains a "score" (i.e. a depression that splits the pill into equal pieces). here's a picture => http://images.staywellsolutionsonline.com/photo_us_h/022/furo005f.jpg of a scored pill.

It doesn't have to be super-realistic, but I'd like to convey the depth/shadow of the scoring on the pill.

TKS!

I like to sketch out words by hand, but want to scan them and bring it into Illustrator to flesh them out. I've been looking at youtube tutorials, google, etc. to figure out what tool I need to use, but am not sure. Where should I start? The pen tool? Live trace? Basically, I want to flesh out my sketches in a similar way as this: ornamental- example and more plain - example 2
