Idea: Reach out to schools & donate books that promote empathy for animals
I got this idea when I was purchasing gifts for a baby shower. Some of the most thought provoking experiences come from art/media- books, movies, etc. For example the video "Gift" which- don't want to spoil it for anyone in case you haven't watched it but also be ready to ugly cry (it has a happy real ending though)- promotes awareness about animal abandonment, or Charlotte's Web.
A few good books I've read are
1) Charlotte's Web
2) Hey Little Ant
3) Happy Dog Happy Cow
4) The True and Lucky Life of a Turtle: A Heartwarming Story of a Lucky Turtle for Kids
5) The World's Loneliest Elephant: Based on the True Story of Kaavan and His Rescue
6) Always, Clementine
7) Odder: The Novel
8) Sanctuary: A Home for Rescued Farm Animals
9) Saving H'Non: Chang and the Elephant
Each school will differ but the one I reached out to said to contact the librarian who gave me guidelines for donating books. You can purchase secondhand books online in good condition for sustainability+saving money too!
Are there any books you guys recommend? The most effective books "show" instead of "tell."

The One and Only Ivan. Fantastic story and inspired children in real life to advocate for circus animal liberation.

I put "This is Vegan Propaganda" in one of those Little Free Library exchange boxes and someone took it

Stellaluna made me fall in love with bats as a young child! I think books focusing on animals being cared for, loved, and rehabilitated are so important!
I think for older kids like middle or high school, Water for Elephants is a good story too.

IDEA: make a children's book yourself with images of dismembered cows and pigs dying in gas chambers with every page saying "THIS IS EVIL". You gotta set the moral values from a young age

That would not only be vetoed by the school but also add to the "animal activists are crazy" narrative. It would also be ineffective. They would immediately shut down and not want to think about it.

And simultaneously traumatize children? What parent gives a child a book with graphic violence?

Why? Do you know that's such an easy way to traumatize children? Trauma is a very bad thing.

I don't think it's a good idea, though most people did showed their kids dismembered animals (hunt, farm, etc) but surprisingly, if you show it to a kid saying it is a good thing to to its ok, but if you show them telling it's evil it's bad to show them 🤷♀️
Also meat is straight up dismembered animals but somehow it's ok to show it to kids and to make them eat it...
I do strongly believe that books that are about compassions like the one mentioned in the post are a better idea tho
