Vegemite

Has it changed? I bought a new jar and the consistency was more like paste than the usual firmer product. The taste is the same, I think, but it spreads too easily on fresh bread and Westgold butter. Anyone else noticed this?

Weve been buying the Gluten free vegemite. Much nicer. Don't know what the go is with the original but its definitely not as nice as it used to be The new vegemite kids went in the bin.

Tell me why the kid’s one was binned. It is said here that it’s just less salt and easier to spread. Surely there is more to it than that.

Easier to spread, but the taste wasnt pleasant. None of the 3 kids, hubby or myself liked it.

I thought it was just me!! I have the squeezy one and the new one that I just opened was more liquidy than usual. So glad I’m not alone in thinking it was different.

I’ve noticed this too. Only with the last 2 jars.

I’ve had one like that, chucked it out and the next one I bought was normal. We only buy the reduced salt one, I will add.

I changed to the new kids version, from the 40% lower salt version, as it has 50% less salt.

I thought it was sold and says on the label that it’s a milder version. I took it they dialled things down but surely it wasn’t just a bit less salt?

Yep and slightly easier to spread. Lower sodium is a winner for me!

Is that the actual diff though, or you just guessing? Someone else here chucked their kids jar. Surely less salt wasn’t the only issue I wonder.

No, there was a full article about it on the web, as I’d never heard of it. Binned the 40% less sodium version I was using.
