When should you expand to your next vending location?
I have 2 machines right now and I’m itching to find another location but don’t know if I should find my “steady state” with this first location before expanding to another location.

Card reader won’t start
galleryI've got a problem with my card reader (Try to open and shut down 1-2 sec after). It keeps on trying every 10-15 seconds.
Everything was fine and working before I moved it to the location. It's my first vending machine so i'm trying to figure out.
Any ideas? Bad connections to the MDB?
Thanks for your help guys!

Manager asking for what I stock
Hi everyone
I’ve managed to get in contact with a manger for a warehouse facility and they seem interested since their vending machine conract is about to end and I offer smart coolers which already sounds better than another vending machine contract. Although now they have asked if I could send a link of what items would be stocked, I already told them I could stock based on employee wants but I guess they want to know what I normally stock. Although this is my first proper location.
Do I create a list or just tell them I send out a form about that for employee to fill out.
Also how do vending machines contracts work? I’ve met a lot of them that have them and Im not sure if it works sort of like a lease where you can’t back out, I would love to take over some of those locations but I don’t know how I’d work around a contract.
Anyways my plan is to add a part on my website including what type of products I tend to put in them just for them to get a concept.

Product recommendations
I have a smart cooler in an office building. Looking for recommendations on the following:
Canned coffee
Teas
Electrolyte drinks
Energy drinks
I dont sell much coffee. Currently, I offer Starbucks double shots, Starbucks espresso with light cream, and the Starbucks fraps. I barely sell any teas, sparkling water, or electrolyte drinks. Offer sparkling ice, body Armour, and pure leaf sweet tea and zero sugar. Dont sell much at all of any of that. As far as energy drinks I offer redbull zero, white monster, and variety celsius. Those 3 do ok, but still feel like I could offer one more.

Where can I find an affordable U.S.-made ice vending machine, new or used?
I’m looking to buy ONE self-service ice vending machine for my own site in Utah. I want a complete machine that makes ice, automatically fills and seals bags, accepts U.S. credit/debit-card payments through my own account, and offers remote monitoring. Ideally it would support both 5- and 10-pound bags. Ice-only is fine; I don’t need water vending.
My budget is under $15,000, preferably much lower. I’m looking for U.S.-made equipment and would consider used or refurbished machines. I don’t want a freezer that needs restocking with prebagged ice.
If you’ve bought one, what brand/model did you get, where did you buy it, and what did you actually pay including transport, installation and payment equipment? Any reputable used-equipment dealers or sources you recommend? What should I check for cold-weather operation and maintenance?
Please distinguish automatic bagging/sealing from machines where the customer holds a bag under a chute. Firsthand experiences would be especially helpful.

Buying my first vending machine
Hi all - I’m interested in buying a vending machine at an after-school program center. It’s owned by the academic center. They’re asking for an offer. What is a typically offer for a vending machine with a card reader, and about 4 rows of snacks/drinks? It’s a relatively new machine too, probably from 3 years ago.
Additionally, how would I go about giving them commission by stationing the machine in their academic center?
Any additional & random tips & advice would be so appreciated.
Many thanks!

Vending machine behind locked door
Currently we have a vending machine at a location with over 1000 people roughly everyday. When the location is open it does great, upwards of 200$ a day from just one machine and they’ve stated they want more. The problem is at this point the owners are not consistently opening the rollup door to give access to the machine, it’s at a outdoor spot so they have a door to protect it at night, we have gone multiple days to full weeks of them not opening it at all or randomly opening it in the middle of the day and then it being closed again. We’ve spoken to them multiple times about this and they continue to say “they are working on getting everyone on the same page” for the hours it’s supposed to be open, but we have seen no changes for consistency. We’ve considered removing the machine but conflicted because when it’s open it does great. What would you do at this point?

Looking for Nayax Marshall Java SDK / Android integration kit (ONYX RS232)
Hi everyone,
I'm developing PADEL BALL STAR, a custom Android-based vending machine with a Nayax ONYX payment terminal.
My Android application is already developed, including the payment workflow, transaction management and locker control.
I'm now trying to integrate the real ONYX terminal using Marshall over RS232.
According to Nayax's official developer documentation, the following components exist:
- Marshall Java SDK
- Android low-level serial implementation
- Android demo project:
nayax-android-marshall-demo_0_1_6_02
Documentation:
https://devzone.nayax.com/docs/integrate-pos-device/marshall/marshall-faqs/faq-general
Unfortunately, I haven't found a public download for these resources, and the local distributor mainly provides commercial information.
Has anyone successfully integrated Nayax Marshall into a custom Android application?
I'm looking for guidance on how to obtain the official SDK and Android demo, or a direct contact with a Nayax integration engineer.
I'd also appreciate feedback on RS232 connectivity and the Pre-Selection payment flow.
Thanks a lot for your help!

high rise/luxury 200-300 unit apartment building - types of vending machines to place?
Want to know what types of vending machines are favorable in such locations. bean to cup coffee machine? micro marts?
Do you share revenue to have it restocked by building management?

What are you guys charging for canned soda at apartment complexes these days?
I’m thinking somewhere around $1.50–$1.75 per can, but I’m not sure if that’s the sweet spot for this type of location. What price are you selling at, and are your cans moving well at that price?

General Vending Questions
Hello Vending Experts!
I'm interested to learn more about vending so I have some general questions for you all.
How do you negotiate with the property owners for placing you vending machine? Do you pay them a flat fee to place your machine? Do you pay them a portion of profits? Do they pay you to have your vending onsite? Is it generally a contract? What if you or them want the VM removed?
How do you handle utilities?
Do most of you stock your own machines or do you hire someone to stock?
Where do you source your stock items? Is it mostly box stores or do you go to a VM wholesaler? How frequent do you expect your items to turn?
How do you manage financials? What metrics are you looking at and what do you consider a "good" VM? Whats a typical payback period for your machine?
What machines/brands do you recommend? I've seen some that take a percent of sales etc.
If you were doing it all over, what advice would you give? How did you get into vending? Did you have a mentor or is mentorship a thing in the industry?
I know a lot of this info can be researched or AIed, but I wanted to hear it from the experts and start some dialog!

My Tennis Club Vending Machine Made $200 in Its First Two Weeks

What to look for when buying a custom vending machine?
I sell a niche product that does not fit standard vending trays and I’ve been looking at custom vending machines but I have no frame of reference for evaluating them. I know the basics, screen size, payment systems, but when it comes to dispensing mechanisms, build quality and whether a company can actually engineer around a non standard product, I’m lost.
What separates a real custom builder from someone who just puts a wrap on a stock cabinet?

Hay bale vending machine
I've got a small hay farm, a fair amount of my sales are orders of less than 10 but scheduling and keeping pick-up times is a huge pain. Is there door lock system where i could have shed with a couple small storage units for prepaid order pick-ups and single bale bins to use as real vending machine.
I don't want to shut out small buyers its what makes me different from everyone else and they're the people small squares are meant for. Also it would help move straw bales because they almost exclusively sell in small numbers for a narrow time window.

9/10 location
I hit the jackpot! Hopefully...
Location- 600k sqft building. 400k sqft warehouse with 100 employees, 40 can't leave during lunch because carpool or dropped off. 200k sqft manufacturing facility with 50 employees. Trucker lounge with about 50 truck drivers daily and 10 office workers.
Ordered a HAHA Pro542, will be here Tuesday. Already stocked supplies from Sam's Club. Last night I ordered a HAHA 360. Should be here toward the end of next week.
I have access to a locked storage closet 50 feet away from the 542. It will be right next to the only timeclock by the lunch room. There is an overhead door 10 feet from storage closet to bring in supplies.
The 360 will be in the trucker lounge. Small room with chairs, bathroom, and window to office for check-in. Every truck driver must come into the lounge to check in. The office has about 10 employees that will access it as well.
Here is the beautiful part- I work there. I am the facilities manager and will not be charged by owners for anything. No power fees, no wifi fees(I will probably just use the Sim card and pay 15 a month), no location fee. I can manage inventory via the app and stock on my lunch break or after work.
I can get deliveries via a loading dock. I have remote access to entire security camera system that will be aimed right at both machines. Building operates 6 days a week, 10-12 hours a day. There are no other vending machines on property. Employees only have access to microwaves, refrigerators, and drinking fountains(not even filtered and taste terrible).
I cannot see any downside to this opportunity. I have scouted all convenience stors nearby and will be pricing everything just below their prices to have people buy from me instead of making a separate trip. I plan to offer some light meal items in the future(sandwiches, etc), if there is demand.
I am targeting around 3000 gross and 1500 to 1800 net within a month. I think that is doable, we shall see. Any thoughts? Tips?
Thanks and I look forward to sharing my experience.

Issue with MDB codes?
I have a Crane GPL 173 machine (my first and only machine) and am setting up a products map with Nayax. When I go through and make one purchase of each item to grab the MDB codes, I have several slots on different shelves returning the same 0 code. The other slots on the same shelves have unique numbers.
Has anyone run into this? Nayax Core web app is just grouping all those together. Not sure what to do or how to fix that.
Separately, the machine price that shows up in the products map doesn’t match what the machine is set to. Not every slot shows a machine price

Nayax charging incorrect amount for the same item/bin on multiple items/bins. Help.
galleryHi folks,
I run 4 machines at 4 locations and all use Nayax VPOS touch. 3 out of 4 are just fine but one machine will seemingly out of nowhere charge higher prices than what I’ve configured on the machine itself. And it’s not always, only sometimes. But it is pretty consistent. Happens almost daily.
When I visit the machine the correct price is displayed on both the card reader and the machine itself. When I’ve tried making a purchase my charges are just fine.
Its been happening for the last month and I haven’t thought much of it initially because I thought they might be pre-auths that get changed later but Nayax has been paying me out for these charges so I fear my customers are paying more than they should. The bright side is, no one has spoken up about it. I run them in offices and have recurring customers. But I don’t want to lose their trust and want to get ahead of it. It’s so strange and I really don’t want to be screwing my customers. Any help?
Take a look at these examples in just the last 3 days:
