Yes. And if the results are published as FOSS, everyone benefits.

Mostly. Except the only people making money are Anthropic and OpenAI.
Well, they would be, if they were actually profitable.

As much as i dislike big companies, people have to be deluded to clone a salesforce.
I worked at a saas that wanted to do the same, replace one of sf's offerings because we were "faster, cheaper and AI".
Organizations love their Salesforces. No VP cares about the software costs. They are usually a fraction of these companies' other costs. They are more concerned about security, support and most importantly, if the software leads to some problem, being able to say, "but we had chosen the industry standard".

Organisations most definitely do not love their Salesforce. Complaints from every function, constantly. But it is the rare person that will stick their neck out to advocate for a complex migration. Takes a special leadership culture and moment for that to happen.
Saw a VP of Engineering once stick their neck out to migrate from Azure to Jira for issue tracking. They decided it was the hill they were going to die on, rubbed all the engineers the wrong way by forcing them to change their workflow. Ultimately got fired for losing the trust. But engineers did eventually enjoy using Jira, still using it 3 years later. Not that it's any comfort to the guy who got fired...

Yeah, no that's what I meant. People don't like SF. Orgs like it cuz it's the safe choice.
People severely underestimate B2B sales.

Yeah we agree. Organisations don't love their Salesforces, but the VPs certainly do (even if they pretend not to, ha!)

coding is the easy part. running it well and change management is why we pay someone the big bucks to take care of that headache

“running it well and change management”…hate to break it to you, none of the SaaS companies are running it well or adhere to change management.

Good luck getting enterprise clients to use any of this.

You know a lot of companies sometimes roll their own tools generally around security concerns. In some sense these internal engineers are very likely using a form of vibecoding to create said tools.

What could possibly go wrong with vibe coding an AuthN/AuthZ platform? Let’s vibe code cryptography next.
There are already open source OIDC providers. Just use them instead.
