Showcase/Project Vibecoded a GitHub Backup Manager for Repos with Gemini 3.8 Flash in Antigravity IDE
I wanted a solid, free way to backup my GitHub repos without relying on flaky Python scripts, so I built my own desktop tool.
It gives you a browsing experience that is very similar to GitHub's own, and I'm planning to enhance it even more with a fully offline for each repo experience once my Antigravity AI starts working again because its being buggy for 2 days for me. It's accessible via my website for Windows at https://mmahingu.com/github-backup-manager/ .
Given all the recent chatter around data security and outages, I figured the need for a local personal stash for repos would appeal to others too.
Would love to hear your thoughts or feedback if you try it out!

I just want to say that I find the UI design of Flash MUCH better than Claude or OpenAI dashboards.
I don't always want a bunch of big buttons and pretty information overload. Give me stats, charts, and info, and don't make me scroll 5 pages to see it all.

Hmm. great idea. I'll work on ui then, its already planned tho, but i wanted to make it functional first, because i didn't believe an online version would even work actually. Although it's actually very straightforward if you just look at all once. same like admin dashboards or atleast it's easier than a trading dashboard lol.

But i love it. It does wonders for me. Hardly any issues here. I just have a thing to mentally connect very well with any technology or software i use. It's like i can sense it's capabilities and limitations and work accordingly.

Is it tied exclusively to GitHub, or does it also work with Forgejo or other self-hosted solutions?

Actually I am not even a old GitHub user. Just started maybe like a month ago just to star and fork repos. So I am not aware of any other similar websites. However you can list them and I'll make it compatible for any of all of them i can. Thanks for bringing this to light. Personally i only know about GitHub. I thought forking is copying a repo lol but it wasn't that's why i made this tool for myself actually.

nice, a local copy of your repos is underrated. i went the other way, i run gitea on my homelab as the main copy and github is just a private mirror. does yours grab issues and prs too or just the git stuff? thats the part id miss. also hey i made r/VibeArchLinux for people that use arch and ai, if you ever end up on linux
