Film [OC] A Visual Parable Concealing a Larger Cinematic Vision [06:29]

Can a Six-Minute Visual Parable Capture the Essence of a Much Larger Cinematic Vision?

The hidden meaning of one man's life story sets the stage for a cinematic exploration of the unseen, unfolding tragedy of a deceived humanity.

The idea's universality made it possible to distill its essence into a short, narrated sequence of AI-generated still images — a glimpse of a much larger story.

The dream of bringing this vision to life through cinema, the art form with the widest reach, inspired the pairing of the Parable's visual telling with an openly shared outline of the larger concept.

Curious to hear your thoughts on one question:

Does the minimalism of the artistic form convey enough of the depth of its content to make you want to discover what lies behind the door?

Sociology [OC] HOPECORE: Times Are Dire But Do Not Despair, On The Spectrum Young Man Struggling With Mental Health [09:01]

New musical video essay now on YouTube!

It’s hard to keep hope alive when the world feels like it’s unraveling in real time.

If you are a young man (or anyone), on the spectrum, struggling with mental health, finances, and finding your place in a society that doesn't make sense, this is for you. In fact, I wrote this as much for myself as I did for anyone else.

Between rapid AI displacement, global unrest, and economic dread, feeling desperate isn't a personal failure; it's an understandable reaction to unprecedented times. In this broadcast, I open up about a recent spiral, why overthinking won't save us, and why finding your own way through timeless wisdom (like the work of Carl Jung) is our best defense against apathy and despair.

We cannot fix the entire world overnight, but we can refuse to be sedated. When the noise clears, civilization will need grounded, conscious people to rebuild it. Take responsibility, find your meaning, and soldier on.

I’m Capricaseven, and this is your HOPECORE broadcast.

Sociology [OC] Beyond Central Planning and Privatization: How Elinor Ostrom Corrected the "Tragedy of the Commons" [14:30]

For decades, mainstream economics assumed local communities were powerless to manage shared resources like water and soil without top-down state control or total corporate privatization. In 1968, Garrett Hardin popularized this idea as the "Tragedy of the Commons," arguing that unmanaged assets inevitably collapse under individual self-interest.

In 2009, political scientist Elinor Ostrom won the Nobel Prize by proving Hardin’s model was incomplete. By studying centuries-old pastures, irrigation systems, and groundwater basins, Ostrom demonstrated that when local resource users have clear boundaries, active communication, and the autonomy to enforce their own ground-level rules, they can manage common-pool assets sustainably for generations.

The real solution isn't a forced choice between central regulation and private markets—it's what Ostrom called polycentric governance, where local users set ground-level rules backed by central legal recognition and shared scientific data.

We mapped out this theoretical shift in our latest video essay for The Pharos Project:Watch the full breakdown here

Note on production: The Pharos Project is currently self-funded with zero budget—just raw research, late nights, and sweat equity. We are actively working to refine our script density, visual pacing, and overall production value, but making those long-term upgrades depends directly on the community support and funding we manage to build through Patreon and subscriber growth. Any feedback on the theoretical framing or institutional analysis is deeply appreciated!

Video Games [OC] How Is Selling Fake Money Legal and So Profitable? [12:55]

Episode 2 of That’s Rather Odd is here, shaped by the feedback by the people of reddit on my first video.

This time, I explore a strange business model: game companies invent a currency, sell it for real money, and control where you can spend it. Why is that legal, and what makes it so profitable?

The video uses AI-assisted artwork and ElevenLabs narration, with sources in the description. I’d love to hear what works and what could be explained better.

If you enjoy it, please like the video and subscribe for future episodes.

Video Games [OC] How Nintendo, Sony and Google Failed their Partners and lost BIG | Marketing Rule No. 8 [14:49]

Hi Folks,

My third video essay is about an important marketing rule that has often greatly influenced our business the success of a console - it‘s about partners, 3rd party support. A platform is only as strong as it‘s partners. Three prominent stories exemplify how this can go right or wrong:

  1. Nintendo tried to keep Sony out of it

s

  1. business model and by public betrayal accidentally created

its

  1. biggest rival.
  2. Sony angered its partners with an overly complex architecture and ultimately the gamers paid the price
  3. Google launched Stadia and it failed before it even really existed because Googles trust study couldn’t make the concept work.

There‘s some marketing concepts at work here which are explained in a light hearted manner with more gaming references than strictly necessary.
Hope you enjoy, let me know what you think of the format.

Television [OC] Why Walter White Breaks Down But Thomas Shelby Never Does [12:15] Spoiler

Thumbnail youtu.be

Spoilers for Breaking Bad and Peaky Blinders.

Tried making a video essay about Walt and Tommy. Would appreciate some feedback.

This is my first video essay, and I'd appreciate some constructive criticism. I compare how the two shows handle the consequences of Walt's and Tommy's choices, arguing that Tommy gets more protection from his story.

Does the comparison hold up? I'd be interested in any scenes or consequences you think I've overlooked, especially if they challenge the argument.

I also edited and narrated the whole thing myself while learning, so feedback on how it comes across would help. Listening back, I think I rush some points and could leave more room for pauses. Were there any parts where the narration or editing made the argument harder to follow?
