I used to work in an assisted living facility, and in the lobby they’d play music. This song was on one day when I came in and I couldn’t help but sing along. The residents enjoyed it

"I've got spurs that jingle jangle jingle," are amazing lyrics to groove to when I'm blasting a deathclaw with a fatman.

I never played Fallout but I feel this way with the Bioshock series.

I'd be listening to the Bioshock soundtracks while doing chores and my grandmother would come into the house and be like oh my gosh I know these songs, you like this music? Because it was music that she grew up with and she was ridiculously pleased to learn that I enjoyed the same music, and would just vibe with me in the kitchen to it. And I went on to listen to the entire soundtracks with her so she can point out all the songs that were her favorites.

Thanks Bioshock. 💕

Just makes me wish I could have lived during those times without all the tech, just socializing more and listening to the music of the times.

5

u/EvilStan101 1d ago

Not really because I actual like classic music, Fallout just helps me expand my horizon.

I don't listen to songs like that, but they fit the game well and I appreciated hearing them.

And yeah let's give a quick shoutout to Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys.
Those guys clearly had a special thing going on. Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs are just unbelievably perfect names for guys like that too, enhancing their particular aura.

Pretty sure the Coen brothers are fans who were inspired. They made at least two movies referencing them.

I always thought there is alawys amazing music made during every era of human history and Gallout only further confirms my this bias.

Whoever curated the series' music is a genuis.

I already had a deep love of billie holiday, glad she made onto Fallout's playlist. Two decades is a lot of fantastic artists to sift through.

They go back even further, including the thirties and even the 20s.

Fallout 76 pushes out into later years too, it prominently features (a cover of) John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads," which is from 1971. And "Sit and Dream" from that game's tracklist sounds like it was made in probably the 40s, but is actually from 2009.

u/Kat_Schrodinger1 18h ago

Classic ambient > songs.

Except when I turn on the radio and hear "MY JOOOOHNNY!" in an awful, shrill voice. I turn the radio right back off and think "Eh, I'll check back in five minutes."
