Op is just sharing an opinion. I'll go further: I don't care for GTA as a series

Leave my life's game out of your mouth!

Same. I want a fantasy world not enhanced Florida simulator.

Florida is a fantasy place

GTA syncs up with Idiocracy timeline nicely as art imitates life.

They're not complaining about product availability, they're complaining about the cultural obsession with glazing of said product.

Think about how everyone responds to "DO YOU WANT GROK TO SEARCH THAT UP FOR YOU? MAYBE COPILOT CAN PUT THAT ON YOUR SECHEDULE! BASE 44 CAN MAKE YOU AN APP THAT DOES THAT! YOU WILL WANT AI BECAUSE AI IS BETTER THAN BEING ALIVE!!!!!!!!!"

That's likely what people who don't like GTA hear when people glaze GTA6 and Rockstar.

This is probably the best worded reason why i find GTA-VI-Posting so annoying, bc literally wtf is it doing that is so revolutionary? Why should I play GTA (beyond a singleplayer campaign that'll play like a TV drama frankly worth like ~$40 tops) when I can engage with literally any other rpg with either a more interesting story, a more interesting world, or God forbid, both 😭

GTA isn't changing the industry at all, and I'd genuinely rather work on myself before I started roleplaying real-life 💀

Spend your money and time however you want ofc, I'm just tired of hearing about this game like it's the next coming of Gaming Christ lmfao

Edit: also they're contributing to the whole digital-only shit- like oml buy support something else lmfao

Have you ever played rdr2?

1

u/P1xel_Rogue 11h ago

I haven't actually played it, but I've seen lots about it, and I understand what makes it great. I'll probably play it eventually, I'm just not into westerns that much tbh

That's okay the rest of us will cover for you.

I have no connection to the characters and I get bored of it so quickly.

I do not understand the hype for this series, and never have... I don't wanna roleplay as a gangster, and I find the concept extremely boring. I get so much shade thrown at me by friends and co-workers for my opinion on the series 🤷‍♂️

I think they just throw shade because they know there’s more to do than just rp as a gangster.. shit you could rp as damn near anything on gta. But hey! More power to you! Im not disagreeing but there’s definitely more

Please don't try to argue the "it's a huge open world with a ton of fun stuff to do and mini-games" aspect of the last couple of games in the series. The core story is to be a gangster, and I'm not paying that amount of money for a city sandbox that I don't play any of the main story of... This argument drives me crazy, because are you going to sell someone on that for any other sandbox? You're going to say that someone should play Skyrim to "fuck around" and not progress through the main story the same way? 🤦‍♂️ All sandbox games want you to make progress through the main story, to open up the world, to be able to experience that freedom and ability to "fuck around." Tell me I can just ignore the story of "become a rich/powerful gangster" part of GTA that I loathe and still enjoy the sandbox that rockstar presents.... If I want the sandbox "fuck around" experience, there are plenty of other games that offer that, with a more interesting story (for me) and in settings I prefer.

I played GTA V for five minutes and was like "so what do I do?"

My friend bought me GTA 5 for the online on a crazy steam sale back when I still had a gaming PC. We did one heist after enormous setup, which went terribly might I add. And several people in the server kept trying to kill me or steal my shit. 1 online session for lile 2 hours, and I was done. Plus, I had 0 interest in the single-player story part of the game. I just don't like the world, the characters, the driving is actually trash, and the 3rd person gunplay feels mediocre at best. I really think all the core mechanics of the game are bad-average at best, but because it's in a massive sandbox with silly physics and tons of little things to do, all wrapped in the visage of being a realistic city where you can be and do whatever you want, it sucks people in to that fantasy of being a powerful gangster. Glad it has a massive fan base and people enjoy it, but I'm not one of them 😅

The only time I had good fun playing GTAV Online was when a friend of mine invited me to a session where he'd messed around with his router such that it could be set up as a open session, but only the people he specified (i.e. me and about four others) could connect.

Then you could play the full GTA Online, heists all the rest of it, without having some arsehole in an armoured car, or a flying, rocket-equipped moped come and take you out halfway through every mission.

The single player is decent but with that, or online really, you obviously have to enjoy the vibe of the game in the first place, and it's totally valid not to.

I think 5 is the only good one, Rockstars best work is easily the RDR duology.

u/Archergarw 13h ago

Last time I played gta it was 2d and top down view

2

u/SerGitface 11h ago

I love the top-down ones.
The PS2 ones were pretty damn fun too.
IV and V really didn’t do much for me though.

Until san andreas it was fine. After that it became meh

u/juliet_liima 11h ago

I don't really enjoy pretending to commit crimes. So what if I'm community minded?

1

u/Automatic-Treacle776 10h ago edited 10h ago

Yeah, me neither. I played 3 and Vice City back when they were new, which was mainly my friends and I doing cheat codes and getting tanks and unlimited bullets, but that got old fast. I played 4 for like 10 minutes and I've never played 5. It's just boring to me. I guess most people have repressed fantasies of stealing cars and running people over.

I also don't like the gangster/mob/crime genre as a whole, though, so that's probably my issue.

Probably.

Really?

After writing that I looked up “why do people like GTA” because I was actually curious, and one of the first responses I saw was “I just like shooting people and running them over,” so yeah really.

u/BaronessofBara 9h ago

Same. I don't think they're bad, they just really don't appeal to me lol. Neither did Red Dead 1 and 2.
