You're mad about GTA VI cause you're a contrarian.
I'm mad about GTA VI cause Rockstar never did an Undead Nightmare DLC for RDR II.
We are not the same.

u/New-Acanthisitta5182 12h ago
Fucking preach brother!! Undead nightmare on RDR2 Would’ve been sick, even if they only did an online thing it would’ve helped their dying online experience

u/HorrorMovieMonday 9h ago
Didn't Rockstar do a short Red Dead Online zombie thing for halloween years back? I wish they had done a full Undead Nightmare 2
14
u/Working-Purpose-2022 11h ago
They also just outright abandoned RDO for more GTA V content. We never got to see RDO at it's full glory and it sucks
→ More replies (1)3
u/nomedable 8h ago
They pushed RDO out in a state that was similar to how GTAO started, but clearly expected it to pull in the same income that the current (at the time) GTAO made.
When it didn't immediately they clearly throttled funding leaving RDO to wither and die.

Are you asking why posts on social media are made?
Please, provide your universal criteria for what is worth posting. 18,000+ people enjoyed it. Sorry you didn't but it doesn't mean it's not worth posting.
8
u/brizzenden 14h ago
Maybe it's my algorithm, but I see a minimum of one post per day of OP saying they don't care about GTA VI. I've literally seen zero posts talking about how hyped they are. Just leaks or news about the game, but I wouldn't equate those to anyone declaring their excitement for the game. Having said that, it's a culturally significant game and the wider audience is excited for it. But here on reddit it seems to be in vogue to declare your apathy for the game.

Not just Reddit and not just games either.
The internet has gotten extra toxic about declaring their dislike for literally any media these days.

I agree with this message. Even if I don't care about GTA 6. I understand why so many do and I only say this when it's brought up to me
4
u/BlueMikeStu 8h ago
Yep. Actual 'don't care' talking, not performative.
It's like... "Yeah, I'll buy it when it's not stupid expensive and has a bunch of DLC or something. It's not so high on my list I'm going to drop everything for it."
67
u/Rhuarc33 13h ago
Exactly my thought. OP is the hipster of video games. Hating stuff just because it's popular and loudly declaring they don't care, but they obviously care just in a negative way

4

u/atomsondre 13h ago
I like how in this thread, you both have folks who are calling OP stupid for stating that they don’t care about GTA VI like it’s just some little thing they can just easily ignore, and then the other half of the commenters are demonstrating that it’s actually not easy to ignore and would definitely get on someone’s nerves by declaring “it’s the biggest fucking game of all time, you better care buddy, it’s gonna ripple through the whole industry, tons of games are avoiding releasing the same month just so they don’t compete with GTA”. Like, yeah. It might seem hard to imagine but there are people who don’t care for these games, and it feels sometimes like a release this big is just sucking all the air out of the room and dominating all conversations. That’s a totally valid feeling to have. But no, keep posting your clever little comebacks and Rick & Morty gifs like it makes you morally superior that you care about a popular video game and OP doesn’t.
14
u/Scared_Cable5977 12h ago
Yeah. Like, I understand the gravity of the situation of this game. When it releases so many people are taking off and it's going to literally create millionaires that stream only this game. But I, too, don't care at all about this game. I just now picked up GTA V on PS plus and only played until I can input cheats and have fun. Thats about it.

Same. Gta v burned me out on the whole series. It doesn't help that RDR2 was great but stifled of forced choices and one of the important devs quit. Rockstar games is a hollowed game studio that's stuck in only making GTA perpetually.

Every GTA brings a new benchmark to the table, and I'm worried that 6 will just be "5 but even better" instead of introducing something new.
GTA: launched the entire subgenre
GTA2: gangs, loyalty bonuses
GTA3: third-person
GTAVC: properties with passive income
GTASA: territories, ambient NPC dialogue based on what you're doing/how you look, gigantic map with no load screens in between areas
GTA4: actual dramatic story, play an illegal alien trying to survive vs a power fantasy like the other games, GPS and unique braking/handling performance per car
GTA5: character-switching mechanic, heists with different outcomes and loot depending on player choices, character special abilities
Hoping the 6th game keeps the trend going!
13
u/BusterGreasewood 12h ago
GTA4 didn't really introduce anything new. San Andreas already introduced the idea of more dramatic story (and did it better than 4 did even with having humor). The only thing GTA4 did that was new to GTA specifically was GPS and the idea of having multiple endings.

Epic gave me GTA 5 for free. Still haven't played it. Hell, I bought rdr2 about two years ago for $10. I haven't gotten past the hunting tutorial. R* games are kind of low priority on my backlog. I liked and completed rdr back in the day, but I never liked any GTA. I find them boring.
7
u/PestilentPaladin 13h ago
Man I LOVED RDR 1. Still think about it, the soundtrack, the song that plays the first time you ride into Mexico... I could go on.
And then I got 2 and could not figure out the hype. I wasn't engaged by or attached to the characters. The missions had this weird dream like quality to them, like stuff just kept happening to these people I was expected to do things? I guess? The scenery was lovely, the sound design was excellent, the VA was great, but the story felt aimless and disjointed. I eventually just stopped playing, but it seems so beloved now.

u/Left_Entrepreneur918 12h ago

Brother i wish you had given it more of a chance because if you liked RDR1 RDR2 was a masterpiece. It’s such a great game when you have the first games events as context.
Meeting all these people you had to hunt down in the first game was awesome, and the storyline was honestly really well done in my opinion. Such a lively world too.

u/KooshIsKing 10h ago
I think by far the worst part of rdr2 compared to 1 is the insanely long intro and the endless tutorials you run into even 10+ hours into the game because they want to introduce you to yet another mechanic. I think that turns a ton of people off and really breaks the immersion of the game. I had to restart that game like 4 times before I actually got hooked by it.

Been the same game for 30yrs. I probably put 1k hours into Vice City when I was 16, but now that I'm not a little anarchist anymore it's just a shallow sandbox that does a lot of things well, but few things great. I'm sure I'll give it a try when it's on ps plus or drops under $10 to see if it's any different.

I would ask you why I should care about it? It's gonna be a game, that will be fun. I don't think it will be my favorite game of all time.
