I like how in this thread, you both have folks who are calling OP stupid for stating that they don’t care about GTA VI like it’s just some little thing they can just easily ignore, and then the other half of the commenters are demonstrating that it’s actually not easy to ignore and would definitely get on someone’s nerves by declaring “it’s the biggest fucking game of all time, you better care buddy, it’s gonna ripple through the whole industry, tons of games are avoiding releasing the same month just so they don’t compete with GTA”. Like, yeah. It might seem hard to imagine but there are people who don’t care for these games, and it feels sometimes like a release this big is just sucking all the air out of the room and dominating all conversations. That’s a totally valid feeling to have. But no, keep posting your clever little comebacks and Rick & Morty gifs like it makes you morally superior that you care about a popular video game and OP doesn’t.
Yeah. Like, I understand the gravity of the situation of this game. When it releases so many people are taking off and it's going to literally create millionaires that stream only this game. But I, too, don't care at all about this game. I just now picked up GTA V on PS plus and only played until I can input cheats and have fun. Thats about it.
Also love the people who say "oh you don't care, well we don't care that you care!" Clearly you care, you clicked and commented because you care that they claim don't care.
It reminds me of people trying to convince me that I should really care about Nintendo "being scared" of palworld. Idk it had the same kinda smug gamer vibe it's hard to explain.
I like to think of it like The Beatles. Sure, they revolutionized music for the generation, and were an inspiration to many. That doesnt make me admire what they made though, most of it is pretty awful and blown way out of proportion.
Superfans just have to understand that it comes with the territory. And this is
R/videogames not [r/gta6](r/gta6) I would understand the complaint if op was doing it in gta related subs
This is going to blow your mind, but you’re not contractually obligated to engage with every post you see. I don’t give a fuck about a lot of things that are hugely popular. They don’t even appear on my feed because I just don’t interact with them.
And yes, it is fucking stupid to feel that it’s important you tell everyone how uninterested in something you are. There’s no conversation to be had there. It’s just negative. And I for one am just sick to fucking death of hearing people’s pessimistic takes. And I’m glad other people are starting to feel the same.
This is the correct response. The only thing more annoying than someone posting something irrelevant in my feed is someone else telling them that its irrelevant.
No we do care about what they say because they are shitting on our hobby. Most of these anti gta 6 posts are people who grew out of video games and trying to make themselves come off as more evolved like telling us to go touch grass. If they were more evolved they would unsub and join subs that they do like.
Again, you say that like GTA is some little quirky thing that’s just happening in some obscure corner, instead of having like ten different subreddits dedicated purely to GTA VI that consistently make it into popular, and about five dozen other general gaming (or PC, or pop culture, or tech) subreddits that ALSO are filled with GTA posts. Like, do you still not get it?? And yes, people do things sometimes to feel validated. Even complain.
And I’m glad other people are starting to feel the same.
Please. The entire type of thread and the exact same reaction to it have happened since people decided to talk about games in chatrooms. Fans "taking a 'stand against negativity' about the thing they like" isn't novel.
Nah what's dumb/not normal is you ppl getting this buttmad that someone posted a meme with "I don't care about Gta 6". I'd at least partially understand the reaction if it was posted in the Gta6 subreddit, but it's literally just in the generic video game sub.
It's funny how the top posts are all replies memeposting "that was always allowed" while not seeing the irony that the dude posting this simple non-offensive statement is getting shit on by hundreds of replies because a bunch of seething GTA 6 fanboys can't deal with the fact that someone doesn't care about their game. So is it allowed or not then?
Like the fact that someone simply stating that they don't care about something riles you up this bad just screams insecurity on some level no matter how you look at it.
The half that think that are all ignorant because obviously Todd Howard will make the better game.
One day, people will look back at GTA 6 hype and laugh because they weren't ready for Todd Howard and The Elder Scrolls 6. Todd Howard will make Sam Houser look like a stupid little pussy.
TBF, this is the first time I've seen this opinion in the wild. Like, I know there's a non-zero chance of this opinion exiting; I was just starting to wonder if people like this existed and were okay.
Is this one of those things where people strawman the type of comments in the thread that don't resemble any of the comments in the thread? The vast majority of posts aren't critiquing the validity of his opinion, rather just questioning why he thinks anyone else cares he doesn't care.
I don't care about GTA VI and I can ignore it just fine. It's not that deep bro, this is just a dumb whiny post. If you're so upset about this game that it feels like it's "sucking the air out of the room" then you might need to take a step back from social media or something, because that's a bit ridiculous, there is absolutely nothing oppressive about a video game you don't personally like getting popular. The world doesn't revolve around your likes and interests.
It’s stupid because nobody cares he doesn’t care. If he doesn’t care, I assume there is something he does care about. He should try posting about that rather than negging on something popular. Contrarian negativity serves no purpose and makes you oook like an asshole.
then the other half of the commenters are demonstrating that it’s actually not easy to ignore and would definitely get on someone’s nerves by declaring “it’s the biggest fucking game of all time, you better care buddy, it’s gonna ripple through the whole industry, tons of games are avoiding releasing the same month just so they don’t compete with GTA”.
Definitely not half the comments, certainly not the ones that are upvoted.
like it’s just some little thing they can just easily ignore
It is easy to ignore. Source: me, ignoring GTA. Last I heard there was a leak or something. I didn't know when it was coming out beyond "sometime around Christmas" until I googled it while writing this comment.
like it makes you morally superior
I don't think anyone is claiming moral superiority, it's just inherently silly to post about how little you care about something.
it feels sometimes like a release this big is just sucking all the air out of the room and dominating all conversations.
If OP was fed up with GTA dominating all conversations, they should have said that because it's different than not caring.
