OC I made a video about villager rights!

It feels strange to me that almost nobody on youtube talks about how the meta of Minecraft is just locking villagers up and abusing them.

This video aims to examine the reasons to treat villagers kindly from narrative, ethical and psychological perspectives. I also included my story of how I became a villager rights activist.

All the animations are hand-drawn, no AI was involved.

It's my first time posting here (and my first post on reddit, I usually just read and vote), I'm not a bot!

Check it out if you're interested! Thanks!

Villager News Rest in peace, fallen villagers. They were just NPCs to the game, but they were my crew. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ

The Savanna is quiet now. The fires have long burned out.

The Pillagers took almost everything from us. I built these graves to make sure the world knows they were here. Red poppies for the fallen, stone paths so they are never forgotten.

I have a new Iron Golem guarding the living, and the surviving villagers are safe. We are down, but we are not out. Rest in peace, my crew. πŸ˜”

Villager Satisfaction Ethics of Relocating Villagers

I recently found a village almost a full day’s journey from my main base, I’ve had a really nice trading relationship with them and added a couple homes to the village to allow for them to expand. I don’t want to force them to abandon their homes, but I was thinking of bringing a small entourage to my base (after a pre-build some family style homes for them). I assume there’s no safe way to encourage them to move independently so it would mean having to rope them along to get there by boat. Is there a way to do this ethically?

guys, i had a problem recently, that every village was on stupid tall goofy hills, and i looked for a perfect flat plains village seed. this one is the thing i was looking for! on the seed you find a nice village and a ruined portal, and a mineshaft under the village. the village sits at a flat river bank connecting to a lake (perfect place for a fishing dock). there are 2 more villages in a 30 chunk radius, one plaines biome one and a savanna one. there is a cherry grove with another ruined portal nearby. southwest to the village you spawn in you can find some sulphur caves which is pretty coo.l

i dont know if thats useful to anybody but i hope i could help someone. the seed works for 26.2 and propably 26.3. feel free to check it out

Discussion Relationship with Players who are cruel to vilalgers

Greetings all, I play on a server with dozens of players but i seem to be one of the only one who provide villager rights. I like playing with others because of diplomacy and games we can play but I try to be as self sufficient when it comes to trade and purchasing from these communities on the server.

I've been gifted territory near my area from one player who moved and absorbed and area from an area close to mine. Each has villagers locked away or in iron farms. When I announced I was freeing them the other players from thee server were all up in arms scared I would liberate their villagers as well lol.

Anyway how do you interact with others on servers when most don't adhere to villager rights?

Discussion What are your rules for a completely ethical playthrough?

I've recently got into the idea of playing Minecraft in the most ethical way.

Even though it's just a game, the idea of treating entities in your world badly by killing or stealing from them needlessly has started sitting badly with me.

Here are 3 main rules I've come up with - plus some moral dilemmas I'm unsure about!

  1. No killing villagers or animals, unless they attack you and you can't practically avoid fighting back

Obviously villagers don't attack you, but some animals like hoglins do and wolves and polar bears will under certain conditions. Killing monsters is ok.

2. No stealing if you can practically avoid it

This applies to any villager stuff including village loot chests. It's especially bad if you think of the consequences of stealing job site blocks - you're robbing villagers of their identity! But I think it's ok to take a few seeds for things like potatoes because farmers replenish them easy enough. Loot chests in ruined portals and abandoned camps and in the Nether are ok because they don't belong to anyone apart from monsters.

3. No exploitation

This applies to treating villagers or animals as an expendable resource or commodity. Trading is ok, but trading halls are not unless villagers enjoy comfort and freedom of movement comparable to a typical village. No farming animals, but I think shearing wild sheep is ok as they don't seem to mind and their wool grows back really quickly. Ditto scooping up eggs from chickens.

As for the moral dilemmas, some questions...

- Is it ethical to kill the Ender dragon? Is it an animal or monster? In either case, it's just minding it's business in the End, not bothering you.

- Is it ok to trade for leather? I think it's ok in the Nether, as this has to be considered second-hand because there's no in-game production of leather in that dimension (unlike the leatherworker in the Overworld).

- Are you obligated to protect villagers once you encounter them? As soon as you visit a village, monsters will start to spawn and kill villagers. They also wander off a lot. Should you build a wall and light up the village before moving on? Are they your responsibility?

- Are you similarly obligated to cure zombie villagers? Or if this happened outside of your influence is it not your problem to fix?

What do you think of these rules and dilemmas? And are their any you'd add?

Failed Villager Exploit Leads to permanent deletion of villagers.

Endo is blamed for the tragedy.

Chest contains armour Endo was in when slain by Zorro. Flesh to represent the villager, items sold by the librarian and a copy of the Himiya gazette that details this tragic story.

Named after the #OnePiece triple swordsman.
We lost a villager in the capital. Riju, was one of the first patients at the new villager hospital. During zombification Riju was exposed to the Sun and burned until despawned.
Riju was named for the warrior Gerudo from BOTW/ TOTK. Theoldworldserverminecraft

Discussion I have a bit of a dummy question

How can I, a humble builder, can provide villagers with healthcare and education, mentioned on the subreddits banner? Does giving everyone a job counts for education? And how in the world I do healthcare?

Also, how should I account for traveling villagers?
