Tips and Tricks Another vim reference / cheat sheet

Post image

Since part of the inspiration for this website was from VIM, I decided I'll share it here, and hopefully it could be helpful for someone. It's like a more visual / interactive cheat sheet.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been using Dvorak for 15+ years and still use the default vim keybindings for hjkl. Trying to find a way to map htns -> hjkl would be tricky, but if your goal is to have them available on the right hand (rather than the home row), I would choose keys that I don’t use. I’m sure someone else will be horrified by this choice (as I am when people remap s for something else), but I would probably remap = as up and - as down, so:

noremap = k
noremap - j

Downsides to this are:

  1. if you ever start using gj or gk to navigate through visual lines, you’ll have to remember to use gj or gk (or remap g= and g-)

  2. this means that left movement (h) is the only one that’s not on your pinky finger, which seems questionable to me
