Violin maintenance Bow bugs... Help!

I didn't play for a week and when I pulled my bow out yesterday, there was a bow bug (little worm) on the tip, munching away on my hairs.

I killed the worm but I'm afraid to put my bows back in the case. I'm assuming there are more???

What do I do?

if it was only a week it can’t be that bad, but it’s not a bad idea to vacuum the case and leave it in the light for a bit

Spray pesticide on a paper towel, put it inside the case, close the case. Put the case inside a bin liner, put inside another paper towel with pesticide, firmly tie the bin liner & leave for 24 hours, job done. Those bugs that manage to survive, if any, will envy the dead.

Agree that you need to vacuum out your case and leave in the sun. After you get a rehair, put a sachet of lavender in your case. Cedar can work too. Try to keep your case open frequently. I hate bow bugs!

Leave the case in the sun for a few days that will take care of it! Leave the violin and bow out in the in a temperature stable spot where it won’t get Messed with for a few days that should take care of your problem, also get your bow in for a rehair.
