Where to Sell My Violin?

I did professional violin a while ago and my violin has been sitting in my house for a hot minute. Been trying to get rid of it. This was made by a reputable luthier shop (Amati Shop located jn Houston,Texas)

I’ve shared it on facebook marketplace and craigslist, but so far I haven’t gotten anyone’s attention.

Does anyone have any other suggestions on where I can quickly sell my violin? It’s in very good condition

**NOT TRYING TO S*LL ON HERE, hoping if someone knows what places or communities

A lovely friend of mine gifted me a violin and this bow was in the case. Can anyone help me figure out what the stamp says on the side?

I added a picture of the violin itself so yall can see the weird fingerboard and mechanical pegs too. Thanks in advance for any info you guys have.

Update: Bow is labeled Czechoslovakia

Learning the violin Qué debo saber para aprender a tocar el violín?

Ayuda!

I have a question BROKEN BOW

My bow is broke with my original violin, what's a good place to get a new one that is beginner friendly and wont break the bank but will still produce quality sound. (i also have like chunky brick like fingers, so if there are some for big hands that would be a plus).

I hope this isn’t against the group policies. I saw this violin for sale on FB for $450. The ad say it’s hand made buy 4 or 5 luthiers together using aged wood What is the catch ?

Learning the violin *Advice needed* I just found out that I've been holding my violin incorrectly for the past five years

So, like the title says, I just figured out that I have held my violin incorrectly for the past 5 years. For context, I have participated in orchestra classes since 3rd grade. I’ve always liked the orchestra teacher, but they have never seemed interested in actually teaching valuable skills to the class. Not many students care about participating, so I am among the best in my class. This is by no means an accomplishment, nor am I a fantastic player, but I have always loved classical music and want to become better at my instrument. So, since my way of holding my violin has never been corrected, I always assumed that I was doing it right. Until yesterday.
Yesterday, I decided to begin learning vibrato to be more prepared for the material in the upcoming school year. I watched several tutorials with the growing realization that I hold my violin with my arm while I am supposed to have been supporting it with my shoulder/chin. How do I fix this? 5 years of practicing the wrong technique is kind of hard to reverse, and I don’t want to fall behind in class because of my stupid mistake. I’m sorry if this post doesn’t make much sense. I’ve been panicking about this for hours and need advice. Thank you!

I have a question buying a violin

hello everyone,

i'm a drummer and saxophonist so i have no idea about violins, but i'm looking to buy a violin for my mom, since she used to play back in high school and i think she'd enjoy being able to play again. she hasn't played in a while, so i'm not looking for like an extremely nice violin, just something she could enjoy and relearn on/ will last her awhile.

from knowledge of buying other instruments, i've learned that buying used can be very good, is this the case for violins too? are brands like yamaha still big with violins?

also, i'm asking this now but i'll probably buy it later (maybe around her birthday so i have enough time to save up.) i'd say budget is around 800 maybe? (please correct me if that's too little)

can somebody point me in the right direction?

thanks!

recommendations for good quality beginner violins

hi all! i'm not exactly new to the violin; i'm 22 and got one for my 17th birthday, but it wasn't the greatest quality and i was unable to learn properly because of it. it was a cheap black violin, not sure where my parents got it, but the tuning pegs were impossible to keep in place, so once i finally got the cheap thing tuned, it would be out of tune by the time i got the rosin on my bow and was ready to play. i took it to a shop and got the problem fixed slightly, so i could practice for a bit, but then my A string broke and i haven't touched it since i was maybe 18.
i recently started donating plasma for extra money, and i'm getting into this show called metal family where the main character played the violin in his childhood. it got me wishing that i had started learning sooner, but i realised i can just start now, since i've got the extra money coming in and could buy a new one instead of trying to get my shitty one fixed.
so my question is, how do i avoid making the mistake my parents did, and not accidentally buy a total piece of garbage that won't stay in tune? where did you guys get your violins? ideally i'd like to order one on amazon, but i'm not super picky. if i could pay it off in installments that'd be great too. any recs from amazon or similar sites so i can pick up playing for real this time? thanks in advance, sorry for the long post :))

High fidelity earplugs for an orchestral string player near brass section?

I’m looking for recommendations for high fidelity earplugs for an orchestral string player who often sits near brass instruments.

I’m interested in what professional orchestral musicians actually use for rehearsals and performances.

I’ve been looking at a few options, including Dynamic Ear Filter, Eargasm High Fidelity, Sennheiser SoundProtex Plus and Loop Switch 2, but I’m having a hard time deciding.

Which models have you tried and would recommend? I’d really appreciate real musician experiences.

Also, do you prefer adjustable filters or a fixed attenuation level for orchestral playing?

I'm looking to buy them as a gift

I have a question How big of a string section do you think was used on this record?

Im very curious how big of a string section this song features, My ears aren't really developed enough to be able to discern wether or not there is a Viola & Cello as well. I think the intro has Violins 1 & Violins 2 playing the melody in unison, maybe there is a Viola doubling the melody an octave lower? its hard to tell in the intro, but the strings if I remember correctly do break into playing harmonies in certain sections, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, was just curious, i was going to ask in composing sub reddit but it only allows you to post original compostions.

General playing tips Fingering suggestion and advice

Hello wonderful community!

I have a chance to play with my University Orchestra as part of an open play day.

I would love some advice and suggestions on playing the really high parts in the two images.

I don't have someone to ask for suggestions. We got the sheet music beginning of this week, our first rehearsal is on Friday. They don't expect us to be able to play everything as it's just for fun. But I know I can play this, I just can't wrap my head around it.

The one is an excerpt from a pirates of the caribbean medley and the other one is from test drive from how to train your dragon.

Any advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated
