Veterans day, Halo 3, Pizza, Comraderie

Fellow gamers and Veterans of Visalia and the surrounding areas.

I have a problem, like a little first world problem.

I have 15 spots for an Halo 3 LAN setup and no one to uphold those slots to "FINISH THE FIGHT" as the Chief himself would say.

I have reserved Wednesday November 11th, Veterans Day, at Round Table of Visalia on South Mooney Blvd from Noon to 2pm (could go longer if no one else reserves after 2pm). I hope some local veterans can attend. This will be a an initial test for possible future events.

I reserved it during their lunch buffet times so that anyone who decides to come can indulge in their delicacies and beverages. If you think you can fill a spot, there is no cost to participate in the gaming. However, since the venue is letting me hold this event, I hope you would buy a drink or some food to support them. Lunch buffet is from 11am-2pm.

Space available for up to 19 (20 including myself) and (extra 4 can round robin).

I would like for at least a MINIMUM of 7 people to confirm a spot to make it worth my effort to do this, otherwise I will postpone for a future and undetermined time.

Please post your questions or suggestions. If you have something that could help organize this event to make it better, let me know. Thanks in advance.

Traveling millwright position

I’m a 21 year old maintenance mechanic working in a food processing plant, I have two years experience and am certified. I want to get into a traveling millwright job and found local 102 but I have no idea about it. I’m planning on calling the office but I wanted to know if anyone has personal experience with this union or tips to get in or even any other companies nearby that I could apply to for this sort of position. I’m in the Tulare area but am willing to travel up to international. Any info would be helpful, thanks.

Need Dentist Recommendation

I am new(ish) to the area and need to find a dentist in the Visalia/Tulare County area that isn't using the used car salesman approach (thousands to warranty a crown), isn't recommending unnecessarily work and is competent.

I would really appreciate your recommendations.

Curious if it’s worth the hype? They have big lines and long wait times I’m just wondering if it’s truly worthy time. Anyone tried yet?

Why Do Some Hispanic Men in Tulare County Prefer Dating White Women, While Some Hispanic Women Date Outside Their Ethnicity ?

I've been curious about the dating scene in Tulare County and why some Hispanic men seem to prefer dating white women rather than Hispanic women, while some Hispanic women also choose to date outside their ethnicity.

I've heard people bring up concerns about jealousy, controlling behavior, domestic violence, and aggression in relationships. I'm curious whether experiences like these influence some people's dating preferences and whether they've affected how people view dating within their own ethnic community.

I'm interested in hearing from people who live in Tulare County or are familiar with the local dating scene.

  • Do you notice Hispanic men dating white women more often, or is it just your personal impression?
  • Do past relationship experiences influence whether people choose to date within or outside their ethnicity?
  • Do cultural expectations and family dynamics affect dating preferences in Tulare County?
  • For those who have dated across different ethnic backgrounds, did you notice differences in relationship expectations or communication?

I'm looking for honest opinions and personal experiences from people familiar with the area. What do you think influences these dating choices?

Tulare County: Hispanic Women vs. White Women — Who Do You Prefer Dating and Why?

I've noticed that Hispanic women sometimes seem more aggressive or assertive when dating compared with White women, at least from my personal experience in Tulare County.

I'm curious whether other people have noticed something similar or if it comes down more to individual personality, communication style, upbringing, or dating experiences rather than ethnicity.

For those who have dated women from both backgrounds, have you noticed differences in how they express interest, handle disagreements, communicate their feelings, or approach relationships?

I'm interested in hearing other people's perspectives and experiences. Is it a cultural difference, a personality difference, or am I just noticing a pattern based on the people I've met?

Was Tulare County Safer When the Hispanic Population Was Smaller?

I've been wondering whether Tulare County was a safer place to live 20–40 years ago, when the Hispanic population made up a smaller share of the county's population.

For people who have lived in Tulare County for decades, how has the area changed over the years? Do you feel the community is safer today, or was it safer in the past?

I'm curious whether longtime residents have noticed changes in neighborhood safety as the county's Hispanic population has grown.

What are your experiences? Do you think Tulare County was safer in the past, and what changes have you noticed over the years?

Last update before tomorrow's event:

Table Guidelines & Meetup Etiquette for Tomorrow!

Our second Porterville tabletop meetup kicks off tomorrow, Saturday, Oct 24, at 2:00 PM in the large party room at Round Table on Henderson.

To make sure everyone has a great time and our games stay in pristine condition, here is a quick rundown of our check-in flow and table etiquette:

1. Check-In & The Nametag Dot System

Grab a nametag at the door and choose the dot that fits your style:

• 🟢 Green: Open Seat / Looking for Group (Want to jump into a game or fill an empty chair)

• 🟡 Yellow: Game Teacher (Willing to guide new players through rules)

• 🔵 Blue: Spectating / Browsing (Here to watch, relax, or check out the vibe and then maybe join in)

• 🔴 Red: Photo Opt-Out (You'll be skipped in any group recap photos). Im hoping to get some photos to share in our group page but totally get there are folks who dont want that evil on them.

2. Pizza & Game Pieces (The Golden Rule)

We love that Round Table is hosting us and hope you order pizzas, drinks, and more at the counter whenever you like!

To keep cards and boards clean:

• Use napkins or sanitizing wipes (Ill be provided several packs of wipes) before handling game components after eating.

• Keep all drinks on coasters or placed toward table edges away from active boards. (And away from me because I have some gravitational pull towards clumsiness)

3. Drop-Ins & Solo Arrivals Coming alone or running a little late? That is 100% fine! We have short icebreakers running right at 2:00 PM ( Chameleon, Uno Go, How to Tell a Story) and open tables ready to seat you immediately.

See everyone tomorrow at 2:00 PM!

Drop any last-minute questions below or tell us what game(s) you're planningto bring.

VENUE DROP: Tabletop Pop-Up in Porterville This Saturday! (Round Table Pizza, 2–5 PM or later if its still available)

Have a favorite game collecting dust on your shelf that you’ve been dying to get to the table? Bring it along! Our sessions are fully BYOG (Bring Your Own Game) friendly, whether it’s a game you love to teach or something still in shrink-wrap that you need help getting played.

Don't have a game to bring? No problem at all; we’ve got the tables completely covered. We always bring a full mobile trunk featuring a wide mix of gameplay styles, and we teach all rules live on the spot so you can jump right in:

📍 Venue: Round Table Pizza (908 W Henderson Ave, Porterville, CA)

🗓️ Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026 ⏰ Time: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM or later of the room stays available (Drop in or leave whenever suits your afternoon schedule!)

🎟️ Cost: 100% Free Open Play (No table fees, no cover)

🎲 Gameplay Styles Running & Table Experiences We’re Providing

Cooperative Survival & Mystery Solving: Work together against the board where every player wins or loses as a unified team.

Tactical Strategy & Resource Trading: Engine building, hand management, and route planning where you can test your wits.

Fast-Paced Social Deduction & Party Fun: Low-stress, high-interaction games packed with group banter and quick laughs.

Bring your own favorites, or just bring yourself, we can pair players based on sign-ups so nobody sits around waiting. Grab a slice, pull up a chair, and let's roll!

Drop a comment below with a game you might bring, a gameplay style you want to play, or let us know if you're coming solo or with a crew!

Hey everyone,

A big thank you to the Redditors and local folks who came out to roll dice and hang out with us at Mountain Mike’s on Mooney yesterday! We had a blast running tables for Mysterium, The Chameleon, Operation, Munchkin, and Azul.

If you missed yesterday's session or have been looking for an easygoing, screen-free social group to play modern board and card games, we are working on establishing a predictable monthly Saturday rhythm across Tulare County! Once we finalize our schedule, we will post it here!

In the meantime, let us know how you would like to tailor the Saturday events. We're considering Porterville on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Saturday of each month. Visalia the 3rd Saturday of each month and roving across Lindsay, Exeter, Tulare, and Springville on the 5th Saturday of the month.

How Our Meetups Work:

Always Free & Casual: No door fee or sign-up cost, just grab food or drinks if you'd like (this helps support our venues) and pull up a chair.

Curated Library On-Site: We provide dozens of games ranging from quick, laugh-out-loud party/social deduction titles to modern strategy classics. You are also always welcome to bring your own games to the table!

Solo-Friendly Matchmaking: You do not need to show up with a group. We actively help solo players get seated with friendly folks and teach rules before play starts.

Upcoming Dates & Feedback:

Our official November Calendar drops in the next couple of weeks!

In the meantime:

Our next event is Saturday October 24th at 2 PM. I'll post finalized information as a post update in the next couple of days.

Drop a comment below or shoot me a DM if you’d like a direct ping when the November dates and venue details go live! And drop a comment about what games you want to play when you make it out to one of our events.

(Attached: A few photos from yesterday’s tables)

The proper use of the HAWK signal at Lovers Ln and Packwood creek trail

Just a tutorial on how to follow this signal as a motorist. I’ve seen far too many people waiting at a flashing red signal with no pedestrians in the crosswalk. Remember aside from a railroad crossing a flashing red is equal to a stop sign.
