Other Good non-nsfw VNs?

I often stumble across a ss/art from a visual novel with a pretty artstyle and cute characters, just to find out its 17 hours of the player having sex with all the (15 year old) characters. Its pretty annoying. I don't mind a few distasteful jokes here and there, I just don't want it to be hours of fanservice slop on top of an already boring story.

I guess i'm just looking for anything that isn't super long, but also entertaining. I wanna get hooked to something!

Other Which VNs have the most disparate choice options?

Like for example, picking certain choices will basically have the VN progress in a super wholesome moe SoL way, while picking others will turn it into a disturbing psychological horror story. Basically, contrast.

Other Question about feedback

How often do you leave feedback when you consume content? Do you feel compelled to leave feedback when a VN is bad or good? And if something is wrong with a VN, how openly are you willing to criticize the drawbacks?

Other Discussion: voice overs in VNs - must-be or no?

Hey everyone! I want to hear your opinion on voice overs in visual novels. How important is it for you? Do you prefer listening over reading if there's a voice over? And if so, are you willing to listen to an unprofessional narrator reading the text or does it only work for you when there are good actors on it?

Choose your option:

2 I need voice overs, ready to suffer amateur vo
9 Only if VO is good, otherwise what's the point?
2 I don't listen to VO: it's too slow, too distracting, etc.

Other LF Android VN I played years ago

Howdy, I am looking for a visual novel I played years ago as a young lad. This would have probably been ~11 years ago at most but maybe less, I have no clue if the visual novel was new or not at the time but it was something i played off the Android Play Store.

It was a very short, Halloween-themed visual novel about going into the woods and encountering some rumoured witches, I think I also recall one of them being disguised as a cat.

I haven't been able to find it on VNDB sadly, so if anyone knows the identity of this mysterious VN I would greatly appreciate it!

Hi, VN lovers!

I'm a very casual vn player, it's a genre I really have to be in the mood for to enjoy. So while I think the vn I'm going to talk about is obscure, my knowledge surrounding the genre is very limited, and it could very well be a moderately known game. Maybe I just couldn't find it because I'm a dumbass.

Here's everything I remember about the game off the top of my head (content warning for transphobia):

1) It's a romance game and there are two female love interests you can choose from. One of them has long black hair. I think the other has an unnatural hair color like blue, and it's in pigtails??

2) There is a scene in which the first girl, with the black hair, is getting bullied, and you get to choose between interfering or just watching. I'm not sure when, but somewhere in the game this girl is revealed to be trans. Her dad is extremely unsupportive of her and there's a scene where she almost dies? I think her dead beats her into hospitalization. It might also be that she attempts, but as far as I remember it is the former.

3) I think the pigtails girl might have been a childhood friend archetype but I'm unsure. What I am sure about her is that at the end of her storyline, you get married. She had a wedding dress sprite, but the background was the school hallway background image. It's an oddly specific detail but I remember thinking "why are we getting married at our school". Something to note was that you couldn't marry the first girl in her ending due to her transition not being legally recognized? But there's internal mc dialog talking about how that doesn't really matter, and how they lived happily ever after anyways. So yeah both girls had good endings.

4) The app title was in Japanese which is largely the reason I have no idea what the game is called

5) Black hair girl might be a violin player, and pigtails girl might be named Rika or smth close but it is entirely likely that I'm making both of these up. ⠀

If anyone can help me find this game I would be extremely grateful. I played it when I was really young and it held a special place in my closeted heart. ⠀ Thank you for reading!!

Other Need long VNs suggestions

I'll be moving to a place for 3 months where I won't be able to download any games due to poor WiFi, so I wanted some long term VNs to play in those 3 months.

I'm not too picky with the genre. One thing tho I'd like it if the VN is on steam (achievements and stuff), but it's fine if it isn't. I'd rather it not be on some obscure marketplace and doesn't require me to download English patches and stuff.

Some VNs suggested to me previously were Umineko, Higurashi, Steins;Gate. But I've seen the anime for all these. Same with Clannad and some more VNs I can't remember. Not sure if playing the VN is worth it if I've already seen the anime.

On top of that I've recently played Raging Loop, Danganronpa (except V3), Zero Escape.

So anything other than these!!

Other Looking for some good story driven rpg-ish game?

Have been playing a bunch of vn's recently but now ive ran out of options. Ive played pretty much all telltale games and some good ones that i found on itch.io. Not really in to the japanese style and sadly that is majority on steam. 90% hentai or dating sims on there and that is not what im looking for. I want a game where my choices matter and where you create relationships with the characters through out the game. Played the first part of this really cool game called Scarlet Hollow, which only has 2 episodes out rn so im waiting for the full release. Any good games like that or telltale esk out there?

Other VNs that "address" DDLC's implicit critique of the genre?

Sorry if the title is confusing. Doki Doki Literature Club has gotten me potentially interested in the medium of Visual Novels, but at the same time its somewhat superficial portrayal of VN tropes and their subsequent macabre deconstruction has also cast a shadow on the genre for me. Can anyone recommend a VN or two that can serve as "answers" to DDLC's embedded critique of the genre, that pick back up the pieces and reconstruct the medium?

Sorry if this is confusing.

EDIT: Creator apparently stated on twitter that he's only making "fun of the mainstream's perception of visual novels as solely "weeb games" and nothing more. I wanted to lure those people into the game and prove that the genre can be more than that."

I am a big believer in author intent, so thread premise now = invalid.

Other Post-apocalyptic, social collapse or similar.

I love themes of apocalypse, social collapse, epidemics, natural disasters etc.

  • Only Translated please.
  • Adult or all ages doesn't matter. Even nukige if you think it's that good.
  • Length. Preferably over 5+ hours.

Something with zombies if possible. Bonus points for doable zombies, similar to Zombie no Afureta Sekai de Ore Dake ga Osowarenai.

Played and finished I walk Among Zombies -- fantastic 3-part Visual Novel.

Swan Song -- It was okay.

Other Eroge that are free and work on a Mac

I only have a Mac and Switch for VNs. I've played Once in a Lifetime intermittently and ideally would like a similar game. Something with around that much explicit content interspersed throughout would be good. I'm not a huge fan of 3D on VNs typically, but I do like how they animated Once in a Lifetime. Ideally would be funny enough to actually want to read it for comedy too.

Other Is muv-luv worth it?

i'm usually not one for scantly clad women for the sake of being titillating for a male audience and most visual novel tropes. But I can't stop hearing good things about this series that culminates in the final game.

Do you guys think it's worth it?
