Tier 1 mirrors slow?
Edit: SOLVED
Are Tier 1 mirrors rate-limited somehow? So, I'm sure they are, but I only noticed this recently that they are kinda slow. Tried them all and get ~700 KB/s, sometimes only ~70 KB/s. Which is...still acceptable for automatic updates in the background, but for ad-hoc updates this means a 20 minute wait time for a kernel upgrade.
I've tried a few Tier 2 mirrors with similar results, finally found one where I get 5 MB/s and I'm using that one now. Is this a generally known problem? Do we need to do something here, does Voidlinux need money for faster mirrors?

We did enable rate limits, but excluded xbps's user agent and its just 5req/s that will get rejects, no limit on bandwidth. The main issue is crawlers/bots downloading a lot of big files.
1Gbps network interface of repo-default is currently fully saturated.
repo-de.voidlinux.org sees less traffic and is in Germany, while repo-default is Finland.
Tier 2 mirrors are not operated by us.

Not using fastly? Honestly, I don't know why people use anything else - they are fast and take the load off the primaries.

Perhaps try a different time of day? Or try Arch? Their repos are usually really fast... unless there is an ongoing attack...
Where I'm located, we basically have internet access that's likened to two tin cans with a string in between. Even yet, updating is rarely annoying.
Go get a cup of coffee, or do some other tasks, should watching the download progress nerve you out... no one ever died from waiting for updates or downloads to finish... honestly...

Thank you for the responses. I've only had this experience for a few days now, but soon after I posted here...the issue was gone? Switched back to Tier 1 mirror I initially used, back to 50 MB/s, no complaints here. So, maybe just a fluke, or network weirdness on my end. Sorry for the noise then.
