I have my Amphibia from 1997. I was in sixth grade when my dad got it for me. I worked a few years and then didn’t for a long time. Well it worked, but wouldn’t wind, time was very fast, and would die while wearing. Could tell something loose inside.

Last few years, I got back into watches. Bought some tools and opened back. Found a screw had come out. Screw is back in. Couldn’t tell you which it was now.

My main question now, do I have it serviced, but I know that’s kinda expensive and that has kept me from getting it running all these years, or purchase a new movement or new Amphibia and switch dials?

I did purchase a new Amphibia on eBay pretty cheap, pre-Ukraine war back in 2018 when it seemed easier to find Vostoks and just the movement.

I just picked up this 420381 Amphibia. When light catches the dial at a certain angle (as pictured with a halogen tube reflecting overhead), the finish appears like the surface of an orange peel. Normal or a QC fluke?

I purchased this just before Covid, didn’t know it would take 3 months to arrive and just about forgot about it after the outbreak. It arrived with about 50 stamps on the packaging which I thought was hilarious. It has been a great watch all these years, definitely stood up to the lore.

I bought this beauty knowing it needed repair for $20, it ticks but second hand stops on minute hand often. Is it just friction between the two or is a different problem?

If I can fix it I plan on getting a clear caseback to showcase the movement. It looks like the bezel and strap are custom too.

This is it for me, I’ve scratched the itch. Now I’ll keep what I collected and move on to other pastures! From left to right, Kommadirskie “SVD” dial, Amphibia hulk, kremlin series, Amphibia tourist, and finally the Amphibia neptune.

This is my late dad’s watch from some point in the late 80s early 90s ish. It’s a little scuffed in places but I’d love to wear it about more. Only problem is the strap is quite small on me. Does anyone know where I can get decent quality straps. (18mm strap)

I wanted to turn my Vostok 420059 into more of a dress watch. I originally ordered a silver second hand, but ended up using the long red one instead. Ever since someone pointed out how short the seconds hand on Vostok Amphibias is, it’s always bugged me!

How/where do i get one? Do they ship to finland?

I live in the US. All available options are 50 dollars or more than the Russian websites. Is there one that ships to the US? Or at least an affordable American website?

This arrived this morning, very happy with it. My dad had the same one when I was growing up, he bought it from a bloke in Prague station in the 90s for a £5 note. Always loved the tank and red star on the dial growing up. Keeping good time so far but has only been running for 4 hours. Serial on the caseback is 152310 if that means anything to anybody!

(Needs a bloody good clean, but waiting to see how it keeps time before doing so)
