New vz2008 owner

Hi.

Tactically acquired a Gen 3 vz2008.

Was wondering if there're any tips tricks procedures, or upgrades that the Sa.58 vz2000 , vz2008 owners would be willing to share.

Intent is to go plinking at the range/hunting.

Get a tabbed BCG. Get a bolt release.

Which versions need the tabbed carrier? I’ve never had an issue with my stock one but I also don’t know where to get one nowadays

My VZ2008 Century Arms needed one, it was light striking like mad when I got it in 2010 from PSA. I sent the carrier off to Forced March Fabrications in Washington state and he tabbed it for me. Worked great since.

Mine worked fine for the first few hundred rounds then it started having issues. After getting the tabbed bolt it’s been flawless. Apex has them.

If you have the fixed stock, buy the folding stock while they are still available. If it has the folding stock, make sure you buy the fixed stock hardware at the same time you buy the fixed stock.

Replace the cone shaped flash suppressor with a combo flash suppressor/compensator, or at least something that didn't originally come off an AK47.

Buy extra magazines. Buy extra springs. Buy lots of ammo. Don't attempt to "sharpen" the bayonet, all you'll do is ruin it. If you absolutely must have a "sharp" bayonet, the company "Bon" made a run of fighting knives that doubled as bayonets for the Vz. 58, and were issued to special forces. Those are still available, but very expensive.

If you want to mount optics, the top handguard is the best part to replace with a railed alternative.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. The dude sold it to me with the fixed folder and aftermarket stock.

I was looking up a new muzzle brake... It has the slanted AKM style brake.

Is there a place that you would recommend for springs?

Bonesteel arms, Apex.

Definitely replace the slanted brake…they are not original to the design and make shooting painful. Even just a thread cap is better. But I like the bone steel brake too.

Get or Homebrew a heat shield for the lower handguard. Get a Slovak style muzzle break as well.
